Attorney Brian Sloan definitely threw a major kink in the prosecutor's plans

In a case that was supposed to be a slam dunk for prosecutors, Attorney Brian Sloan definitely threw a major kink in their plans with his tact and extensive knowledge of the law, combined with his refusal to give up and feed me to the wolves. My "one day" trial turned into a five day battle in which he crucified states witnesses and made their testimony shaky at best. A clear win coming out of trial, I highly recommend Mr. Sloan to anyone who wants nothing but the best. A man with integrity and tenacity.

    Brian was great

On January 29, 2015, I was charged with an Extreme DUI along with other charges. I immediately sought the help from Brian D. Sloan in hopes to decrease the charges for a first time offense. As a member of the military and also a nursing student, I had a lot to lose if I went to jail for a long period of time. Brian recommended that I immediately complete the Alcohol screening and DUI education classes to help with my case when it came time to go to court. Brian took care of everything, including attending to my court dates until the final court date where I was then convicted. Brian was up front, he did not promise me anything but was confident he could help me. The price was not too much to ask for the services he provided and I was able to pay in two different payments. He also extended my driving privileges so that I could get everything in order and I was able to have an input on the date when I wanted my driving privileges suspended. At the end, Brian arranged a plea where I plead guilty to a Regular DUI with one day in jail. All other charges were dropped.

2nd super extreme in less then 5 years

I was facing about 6 months in jail due to this being my 2nd super (bac .26)...he told me within the first 10 minutes of our consultation that i was facing around 6 months realistically. he was very upfront with me and did not get my hopes up. After deciding to hire him, any question i asked he answered VERY fast. About a week before my final court hearing he let me know what my Final plea agreement was and I was okay with it knowing a second offense was pretty serious. then the day of my court hearing he told me he was trying one last time for a better plea agreement, which was a surprise to me because I thought I was just going to court to sign my already good plea he got me. So i was sitting in court waiting and he came up to me and told me he did end up getting me the better plea agreement and I plead to a 2nd time extreme with 24 days in jail on work release. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome given the situation I put myself in. So with that being said, the previous post does not at all seem like my experience with this lawyer. reading everybody else's experience on this website was the reason why I chose him. I do not want that post to taint his positive reviews because he is completely worth the money.

    Waste of Money

Arizona DUI penalties are the same for everyone on the first offense. Brian should have been upfront at our initial consultation and told me that there was nothing he could do for me. Instead, he gave me the impression that he could negotiate a better deal than I would get on my own or with a public defender. He took my money, and I ended up with the same results that I would have had without his "help." He did not stand by me at my sentencing. Instead, he sent a very young and inexperienced associate who really just phoned it in. I didn't even get out of jail early, which he highlighted as an advantage of his service. Hiring Brian just ended up being another costly mistake.

Brian Douglas Sloan’s response: “Unfortunately, I think an unscrupulous lawyer wrote this against me, as I have recently been exposing certain other lawyers as snakes, incompetent, and scam artists. The author didn’t leave a name, so I can’t respond with specifics. If, however, this was a real client, I can respond with general statements. This person is incorrect, and it is not the same penalties for everyone on the first offense. Penalties can change severely depending on the facts of the case, the courtroom, the prosecutor handling the case, and the experience of the Defense Lawyer. Simply look at the previous Testimonial for a great example. I am very up front in my initial consultation. I provide potential clients with the actual sentencing range, let them know my thoughts on possible outcomes, and I really do everything I can to be honest and a straight-shooter. I always tell people about the option to represent themselves, and the option to go with a Public Defender. When hiring a Private Defense Lawyer, there is no guarantee of success. It is stated in every Private Lawyer’s contract. People hire me because of my experience, and to see things that other Public Defenders, clients, and attorneys might miss. Again, see the previous Testimonial. Hiring me doesn’t guarantee a specific outcome. It is not uncommon for me to have to have an associate represent my client at Sentencing after a plea agreement is entered into. I have already done all the work, and everything is already set in stone by the time Sentencing comes around. I am only one person, and can’t be at every court at the same time. Sometimes I need help, which is true of all Private DUI and Criminal Defense Lawyers. However, the associates I send in are not inexperienced. I have worked with my associates for years, and I trust my associates to properly and fully represent my clients, and follow my instructions. It is true that I will often tell potential clients that I have a trick to get out of jail early, however, it is a trick, not a guarantee. It tends to work 99% of the time, but every now and again, it doesn’t work. I make it clear in my Case Review that this is a trick, that will hopefully work, and tends to work, but there is no guarantee, as it is up to the jail to decide what to do with a person. The other day I had a client tell me the trick didn’t work. This morning I had a client tell me that my trick worked so well that they were able to serve a 2 day sentence in 12 hours. If this was truly a former client, I am sorry that you think this was a costly mistake. I am hired for my knowledge and experience, and solely focusing on DUI Defense Representation. I am hired for all the time and work I put into my client’s cases, not just for the end result, because the end result cannot be guaranteed. I am hired so that my clients have direct access to me by phone; and for my 5 to 10 page Case Review that I send my client, so they can take their time to review everything, and make a fully informed decision on how they want to proceed. I am hired to take care of the Motor Vehicle Division issues, and take care of the court appearances so that my client can keep working, and not waste their time sitting around in a court. I am sorry that this person felt the need to harm my reputation. What I offer my clients is excellent representation at an affordable price, but hiring a Private Lawyer is not a guarantee of anything, and it definitely does not mean that the case will be dismissed. My results, and other Testimonials, speak for themselves.”

Four months jail and a felony with another lawyer turned into 30 days jail and a misdemeanor with Brian

On March, 5, 2014 I was charged with four aggravated DUIs and was given a court appointed attorney lawyer. She was a private lawyer with a government contract, and did not care about me or my case one bit. She was very unprofessional, would not hear me out on my case, disregarded my family when I tried to introduce her to them, and without notice did not show up to a court date.

She advised me to plead to a felony with 4 months jail without even investigating my case. I did not agree with my court appointed lawyer, and I sought out a second opinion from different attorney. I was referred to Brian Sloan.

He was very professional from the start; took the time to hear and understand my case to then discover that I was not given an appropriate plea that was suitable due to my circumstances. He was very interested in helping me because I was given ineffective assistance from my court appointed lawyer. He said to me that he could not just sit back and watch me take a felony when clearly I should not be.

Mr. Sloan took on my case, thoroughly went through my case with me and explained my charges and the accurate consequences for my actions to better help my understanding of what I was in for. Unlike my court appointed lawyer, Mr. Sloan was very up front and precise with my case. In a week, he was able to carefully cross examine the case and reduced the felony plea from four months in jail, plus more, to a misdemeanor plea with thirty days in jail and work furlough.

I am very considerate and thankful to the fact he took on my case because he wanted to make sure I was given honest representation. I definitely refer him to anyone facing a DUI.

Mr. Sloan said I was innocent, and proved it in front of a jury. NOT GUILTY on all 3 counts

Mr. Sloan did an excellent job by guiding me through the entire criminal process, from initial consultation, all the way through the conclusion of my case. At each step, Brian clearly communicated all of my options, and offered his opinion on what he thought would be the best one. Mr. Sloan proved himself to be an intelligent and terrific litigator. His knowledge and comfort with DUI laws was a superior advantage in going through the process.

From the very beginning Mr. Sloan told me that I was innocent. Although the prosecutor didn't agree, they were willing to offer a very beneficial plea agreement. Mr. Sloan recommended that we keep fighting, and he even did the trial for free because he so believed in my case. In the end, the jury came back NOT GUILTY on all counts. It was scary, but I rightfully put my trust into Brian. I cannot thank him enough.

I am so happy I hired Brian to represent my case

Brian exceeded my expectations with his flexibility and expertise in the services he provided. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to have had him as my representative for my case. The process was smooth and fast, which took a lot of stress off my shoulders. He was always available to answer any type of questions I would have. Through his hard work and dedication he was able to reduce a DUI into a reckless driving.

Very pleased with Brian Sloan as my lawyer

I was arrested for driving under the influence last year in Scottsdale. Being an RN, I began searching for an attorney. A friend recommended Brian Sloan, and I immediately looked him up. After reading though other client testimonials and speaking with Brian I chose to hire him as my attorney. He was able to work out a plea which I accepted. Overall very pleased. Thanks Brian.

Brian Sloan is absolutely amazing! Got my case dismissed!

I did not have prior experience getting in legal trouble, and he was extremely helpful. I met with Brian and he started on my case immediately. He appeared at all of my court dates for me so I didn't have to, he was extremely patient and helpful with explaining everything to me and instructing me on how to take the next step in our plan of action. He kept in constant contact with me and was available to answer all of my questions. He never left me feeling confused or forgotten about. He is absolutely fantastic! In three short months, he was able to get my case dismissed! I am so grateful that I hired Brian Sloan to work on my case. I have never met an attorney so thorough, understanding and helpful. I have referred all my friends to Brian Sloan. I would never hire a different attorney.

My case was dismissed, just as Mr. Sloan said it would be.

I had my first DUI Charge and didn't know who to contact. I found Brian Sloan by searching Google for DUI lawyers and his name came across as highly rated. I did my research and decided he would be who I went to for help. In hearing about my case, Brian was confident my case would be dismissed. He was so confident, he only charged me a portion of his normal fee. After a week or so, I got confirmation that my case was indeed dismissed, and all charges dropped. Not only did he do exactly as he said he was going to do, he refunded me a portion of the fee that I had already paid, based on the amount of work he had done. This was completely unexpected and truly shows he is a man of honor as he wouldn't accept payment for services that were not performed. I would recommend Brian to anyone seeking professional DUI representation.
