Protesters' Case Dismissed

Parag Yogesh Shah

Case Conclusion Date: August 11, 2011

Practice Area: Civil Rights

Outcome: Dismissed

Description: Six undocumented students rallied with hundreds to protest Georgia's immigration laws. Dressed in their graduation garb, they sat in the middle of the intersection near the Georgia capital protesting Georgia House Bill 87. The protesters were arrested for Obstructing an Intersection, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Reckless Conduct. I was able to secure signature bonds for all the protestors shortly after their arrest. In the end, I was able to get all the charges against the six protesters dismissed and prevented any adverse immigration consequences. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/local_news/Young-Illegal-Immigrants-Arrested-at-Rally-to-be-in-Court-20110629-am-sd; http://www.wsbtv.com/video/28396385/index.html; http://www.ajc.com/news/immigration-bill-protesters-out-991122.html; http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/students-arrested-immigration-bill-protest-20110628-es
