I am a student who was charged with misdemeanor assault after a weekend trip to Wilmington -- a charge that was completely unanticipated and especially daunting since I have no experience with the legal system and do not know anyone in the Wilmington area. Clarke was very helpful and available, always returning my calls and even gave me his personal phone-number to reach him via text-messaging. He is exactly what you need out of a layer; our phone calls consisted exclusively of business. Clarke is not there to be your friend; he is there to get your case resolved as effectively as possible. My case required 3 court appearances from July - September and he came to each and spoke to me before, during, and after. I'm sure this was a frustratingly long process since he only charged me a flat-rate for his services. It ended up getting dropped as we had hoped, but this took a significant amount of bargaining and strategy on his part because the defendant and the officer charging me were intent on going to trial. Clarke subpoenaed witnesses for me and also advised me in pressing counter charges. He seemed to know a fair amount of people in the Wilmington area and to be on good terms with the magistrates and DA's at the Hanover County Courthouse. I'm glad I hired him.
