Carol L. Schlitt has practiced law in New York for 25 years, earning a reputation as one of the leading personal injury attorneys in New York. Carol began her legal career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Law Department of the City of New York. Her legal acumen and trial prowess shone brightly and she was given many of the most difficult cases brought against New York City. Her outstanding work at the City Law Department earned Carol an award as the New York City Municipal Attorney of the Year. Carol went on to work as an associate for the Manhattan firm of Acito and Klein.
Carol began work as a solo attorney in 1997, serving direct clients and accepting referrals from other testament to Carol’s legal skills are so valued that attorneys throughout the New York metropolitan area retain Carol to try cases for their clients and to assist them in other legal matters.
Carol has been featured in numerous news stories. Most recently Ask Asa of CBS TV interviewed Carol for a feature on New York City taxi cases and MSNBC interviewed Carol as one of their legal experts. Carol and her legal work have also been featured in the New York Times, Newsday, the New York Post, New York One, the New York Jury Verdict Reporter and the New York Law Journal.
Carol received her undergraduate degree from Holy Cross and her law degree from St. John’s University School of served as a counsel during the petition drive for the Barack Obama Campaign on Long Island. She has done pro bono work through local charitable organizations and served as a moot court judge for law students. Carol is active in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of their Women’s Caucus.
Carol is admitted in the State of New York and the Eastern and Southern Districts of Federal District Court.
