About me

My law firm, Wisselman, Harounian & Associates, P.C. is ranked as a top  family law firm on Long Island (Long Island Business News, 2007 through 2012).  Both my law partner, Jerry Wisselman, and I have been recognized as Superlawyers in Family Law.

In addition, I am porud to have just been named one of Avvo's "best and brightest divorce attorneys in the Northeast". Avvo’s top picks are selected based upon the Avvo lawyer rating service, a score from 1 to 10 that is calculated from attorney profiles, including education, work history, prestigious awards, and peer endorsements.  I am rated  "Superb" on Avvo.

Matrimonial litigation can be an extremely complex and confusing process, at a time when your life has been turned upside down.  I see my role as being a trusted guide and counselor, to help you be prepared, protected, and ultimately to give you peace of mind. I work very closely with my clients and other professionals involved in the case. I help my clients cope with day to day challenges at a time of emotional and financial crisis. We work together to develop and prioritize goals, both long term and short term.

My clients and their family members can count on me to help them navigate the challenges during this difficult stage, and to provide them with legal representation based on personalized service, responsibility, compassion and trust.

I am an extremely experienced trial attorney, and have a track record of success in the courtroom in complex custody, relocation and asset distribution trials.  But I will pursue other strategies than litigation, including negotiated settlements and mediation.

As an initial strategy, I coach my clients to keep their emotions in check and to avoid litigation. I encourage them to seek resolution of their issues whenever possible so they can meet their goals in a cost effective and amicable manner. This is especially important when there are children involved and co-parenting is desired. If litigation is needed, it is usually a last resort, when it is determined by careful analysis that the benefits outweigh the risks and expense.

I strive to create a long term relationship with clients, to fully address their concerns about their children and financial issues, and ultimately improve their lives. Most importantly, I want my clients to move on with their lives.

My unique approach, and customized representation of each client, has met with great success, and a very high degree of client satisfaction and professional recognition in my industry.
