I come from a family of teachers. But I prefer to think of them as "professional educators." And, in many ways, that is what I am: a "professional educator." As a lawyer, I educate clients on their rights and give them advice on how to handle a given situation. I educate judges and juries on the applicable law and why they should reach a particular conclusion. The educator mindset has tremendous value in my profession.

Been my lawyer for 3 years. Tried a DUI case for me and did great. Settle a civil case favorably when I got sued. Helping me with custody right now.

A waste of time and money!
Beware! This attorney recently left mclaughlin law firm to start his own practice. He left on bad terms Then disappeared And I couldn't find him for three weeks. I finally got in touch with him but he couldn't keep it together I guess because he missed my court date, lied about it and i finally had t...
Sir, I am sorry that you were not happy with my services. But I do take objection to you saying things that are not true. I did not leave the McLaughlin Law Firm on bad terms. I talk to them all the time. Brian McLaughlin and I are still working a case together and we may be working a couple more cases together. Your mail kept coming back undeliverable and you kept changing phone numbers. I never "disappeared," I moved down the street because my dream of owning my own law office finally came true. You bombarded us with calls about things that had nothing to do with your case. You had me continue your case 3 times to accommodate your work schedule. Then when I had a scheduling conflict with my own work schedule due to an emergency with another client, you threw a fit and said all kinds of mean things about me in open court and now here on Avvo where I had a perfect five star rating and received a client's choice award. The Judge and District Attorney both knew that I had to be in another county for a time sensitive hearing that came out of nowhere. I asked you for your email address so i could show you the emails between the DA, the Judge, and myself. You kept having your mother contact me and threaten to file a bar complaint if I asked that you pay your bill. When you first hired me you said a bunch of lies about your previous attorney. You got mad at him because he would not give you a two for one special and represent your co-defendant (your mother) for free. I had to listen to you complain about the oil hands at your job site picking on you for 30 minutes one day. I gave you my personal cell phone number so you would be able to get in touch with me whenever you needed to. You had your mother texting me pretending to be you then you tried to extort me for money when I told her that I did not want to talk to her and that there was no reason for you to be so anxious. You will never find a client of mine that says I ignore my clients or don't care about them. You will never find a client of mine that says I do not fight tooth and nail for them. I think it is unfair of you to come on here and lie about me. The only thing you have to complain about is that I was late getting to Court, which everyone knew was going to happen, including you. The judge continued the case rather than wait for me to get there. We weren't even going to have a hearing. You also left out the part where you called the DA's office trying to settle your own criminal case so you would not have to pay me. The DA's office told you that they cannot talk to you because you are represented by an attorney. Why hire a lawyer if you are just going to yell at them, try to handle the case yourself, fire them, and then tell lies about them? I'm sorry you were not happy with me, but you weren't happy with your other lawyer, either. It's ok to give me a bad rating and criticize me. I will take criticism into consideration so i can better serve my high maintenance clients. But it is not OK to tell lies about me when I did nothing wrong and your case was not prejudiced in any way. How would you like it if you worked your whole life to build a career and then had someone try to ruin your reputation because they are angry and have unreasonable expectations? In the future, please try to be as patient and accommodating with other people as you demand everyone else be to you. I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your case and all of your future endeavors.

My Drug Case Dismissed
I hired Mr. Minks because he was the only attorney I talked to that seemed like he wanted to take my case and go win it. He took my felony drug case in Ottawa County. He drove three hours and got the whole case tossed out. Best money I ever spent

Character
I met Steven through family. His ability in knowledge is one thing but his character is what sets him apart. I began using him for simple matters then digressed into complicated issues. All of which he shows confidence and exemplifies a true understanding of the parameters of the law.. I would recomm...

Excellent Attorney
Steven Minks went above and beyond our expectations in our child custody case. I will not use another attorney besides Steven for any and all legal matters/situations.
"I am surprised I had not endorsed Mr. Minks earlier. I have no hesitation to send anyone charged with a crime to Mr. Minks. We consult each other often on issues of DUI and other criminal matters and I am always astounded by his legal acumen and ability to think outside of the box. I keep a short list of attorneys I would hire if I ever needed one and Mr. Minks is most assuredly on the list."
"I highly endorse Steven for DUI defense in Oklahoma. We attended a Standardized Field Sobriety Test practitioner course together, so he's in a small group of attorneys in this state who can thoroughly pick apart a DUI case."
"I endorse this lawyer with the utmost confidence. If I was arrested, Attorney Minks is the person I'd call. If you are facing criminal charges anywhere in the great State of Oklahoma, make sure you call Steve Minks first."
