Shawn Newman did a great job for me, not only was his intelligence great but the way i was able to talk to him as if he were a friend was refreshing. Newman turned an almost certain conviction to a deferral and under the condition i was at, i could not have asked for more. Newman provided all the inf...ormation and answer i asked of him as well as providing timely responses to all my emails. Newman ultimately got all of my charges dismissed. He was knowledgeable and really good about answering any questions in a timely manner. He asked for the full discovery of evidence the state had against me in a marijuana possession case. When they failed to do so he was able to get everything droppe...d within 10 minutes of meeting with the prosecuting attorney in pretrial. He drove all the way out towards Spokane for the trial and did everything I could have asked out of a lawyer. Newman has a kick ass personality, meaning he went into the pretrial suggesting that he was not afraid to go to trial, and wouldn't accept just any plea deal. None of us wanted to go to trial, but he was able to convince the prosecutor otherwise. Great experience.

Shawn Newman handled an appeal before the Washington State Supreme Court for me. It was a lawyer disciplinary matter in which I was wrongly accused of misconduct. Prior to retaining him, I had an attorney who did not communicate with me, was insensitive and was not diligent. FInally, this former a...ttorney committed an act of clear malpractice in handling my case. At that poing, however, most of the briefing had already been done by my former lawyer and it had been done poorly. The only briefing left to do was my reply brief becuase my former lawyer had not filed a reply brief and then failed to disclose that fact to me for over 5 months. Mr. Newman's only opportunity to save the situation was with the reply brief. As a result, I needed Mr. Newman to get up to speed on a case that had been ongoing for 5 years and I needed him to do so quickly. It was an emergency. He set to work immediately and did a great job with the briefing. It had to be done in a matter of days. We had to file a motion immediately in order to get leave to file the late brief. Mr. Newman successfully handled all this for me. We were granted leave to file the late reply. From the moment I retained him, he dedicated himself, full-time to my case because that was what was required. And I believe he turned things around for me. Although I don't yet know the outcome of the case, I do know (because I am a lawyer myself) that Mr. Newman as well as anyone could have done under the circumstances. He did a great job in briefing the issues. He works efficiently. He did a good job at oral argument. He communicated with me so that I knew my position was being represented at oral argument. I only wish I had retained him to represent me from the outset of the case. A great deal of damage was done to my case by starting off with the wrong lawyer. I would use Mr. Newman again, but this time, from the beginning.
