I had two consultations before I met with Shaun about my no-fault eviction. The other lawyers thought/ recommended it'd be easier for me to just move, which just wasn't an option at that time. During my first meeting with Shaun, he presented more than one option for how to proceed and explained the... potential results for each action as well as the counter options available to my landlord, all of which kept me in my apt. till I was able to move. His transparency was 100% which is why I trust him. His disclosure about what he was doing (sending notices, asking for discovery) kept me informed throughout the process, so there were never any surprises. His knowledge of the MA Landlord/Tenant Rights and Laws as well as how things work in housing court kept me housed until I found a place and after I moved we then proceeded to file and won a small claim settlement against my landlord. She had breached a number of tenant rights when I asked if he thought this was worth pursuing and he explained why it was and took the quickest path toward resolution. The whole process from Notice to Vacate to small claims settlement took 5 months, which is really fast for housing court or court in general. I walked away without an eviction on my otherwise perfect tenancy record and the satisfaction of showing my landlady that it's NOT okay to bully tenants or breach the terms of a lease. I emailed Shaun for advice before signing a lease in a situation that was unusual so I wanted to be extra careful, ending my note by saying I would call him later same day to follow up.
