Biography
Daniel M. Kotin is a founding shareholder and seasoned trial attorney at Tomasik Kotin Kasserman in Chicago. Previously a partner at Corboy & Demetrio, he has built a distinguished career handling personal injury and wrongful death cases involving transportation accidents, medical negligence, product defects, and construction site incidents.
Dan has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements, including a $29.6 million jury award for a woman injured in a Metra derailment, a $22 million birth injury settlement, and record verdicts in both Illinois and Missouri. He has also led major mass tort and transportation cases, such as a $43 million recovery for 35 train passengers and multimillion-dollar wrongful death settlements involving bus and vehicle collisions.
Beyond the courtroom, Dan has held leadership roles in prominent legal organizations. He is a past President of the Chicago Bar Association, a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers, and a delegate to the American Bar Association. He serves on boards for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to several high-level committees.
A graduate of Loyola University School of Law, Dan teaches Civil Procedure and has coached the school’s national mock trial team. He is a frequent speaker at legal seminars, has published extensively, and is regularly featured by media outlets including Fox News, WGN, and CBS.
