Jim was recommended to me by a mutual friend who works in the Bergen Count Prosecutors Office. My son, who had just received his driving permit a few months prior, and I were in an accident and my son was given a ticket. Recently, my 26 year old son who has always been a law abiding citizen, has never had any encounters with the law, has gone to school and has held down a job found himself in an unfair situation. He, his girlfriend and her cousin were parked outside of her apartment complex sitting in the car talki...ng when a police officer approached. The officer asked if anyone had any drugs wherein my son’s girlfriend admitted to having a small joint in her purse prompting her immediate arrest. She was taken to the police station for booking and then called my son to pick her up. When my son arrived, the girlfriend was escorted to his car by a police officer who proceeded to hand my son a ticket saying, “I had to give this to someone”. The offense was N.J.S.A. 39:4-49.1 Upon hearing that our son received a ticket just because the officer “had to give it to someone” and knowing how undeserving our son was of this offense we knew we had to hire a lawyer for help. However, Possession of CDS (a controlled dangerous substance) in a car in New Jersey is one of the most serious motor vehicle offenses that would require a two year suspension of driving privileges if convicted! Mr. Donahue seemed very knowledgeable of this specific offense and even explained to us how unfair this law really is considering that my son was not the one with possession of cds but rather his girlfriend was. She would receive a months’ suspension wherein my innocent son would get the brunt of the punishment and receive the two year suspension. Upon hearing his knowledge on this particular case we hired Mr. Donahue immediately! Thankfully, Mr. Donahue proved just how good he is and through hard work and dedication was able to have my son’s summons dismissed. He saved my son from having to pay fines, restitution, car insurance eligibility points, driver’s license suspension for two years and most importantly my son’s clean record! I am forever grateful to Mr. Donahue and although I hope never to have to use his services again, I would be confident in doing so because I know I have one of the best defense lawyers representing me. I was arrested for DUI and was looking at a loss of my drivers driving license for two years and having an inter-lock device put on my car for 6 months after the two year suspension.
