Most Ethical Lawyer

Helene, by far is one of the most honest lawyers I could have hired. She went to battle for me for a year. When it came time for her to put her personal feelings aside, she did and protected me before herself. I am indebted to her and I could not be happier with the outcome.

Excellent!

Helene and Alice helped me through an awful and drawn out custody case. They are stern and direct but 100% know what they are doing. Some requests seemed like overkill, but in hind sight were necessary and a testament to their thoroughness on cases. No stone unturned and well prepared. I highly recom...mend her. She is a real advocate for her client and justice!

Great attorney. Recommend highly.

Helene turned out to be a very competent, very engaged attorney. She handled my awful, messy divorce, gave what turned out to be very good advice and helped minimize the drama. She was genuinely committed to the best interest of my kids. I can't say enough good about the work she did for me!

Hands down the worst and these reviews on here can't be real

I had to fire Helene in middle of a child custody case. She was hands down the worst attorney that I could have retained with needing a specialist with custody trials. She lied and manipulated us into thinking she would be diligent in handling our case. When it was time for court or client meetings, ...she literally turned into a bipolar opposite personality and had lost her memory of what she had told us. Her paralegal was constantly losing documents. This attorney will over charge you and bill you for documents that you provide to her repeatedly so watch out. She is very arrogant and so is her paralegal- not the type you want handling a custody case or anything to do with family law that requires trials. To myself and the others who observed her behavior, she is all about settlements and mediation. Settlements appeared to be more important to her when it came to trial days. This literally occured while we were standing outside of the court room for a hearing to commence with all witnesses present, where she would either attempt reset dates or literally be the bi-polar opposite personality as she was in her office and avoid having a hearing. This was after telling us that our case would need to heard and was not the type of case that could be mediated or settled out of court. This appeared to be more important to her to settle, regardless of what is needed to protect a child's safety. If you need a really good trial attorney, this is not what Helene will be able to deliver for you. Please note she appeared to be making a lot more money rescheduling our court dates than if she had gone to trial that day, and losing documents that were provided to her paralegal multiple times.

I am sorry to read this review because I don't know who this is. I have never been called a liar, bipolar, or arrogant in my 20 years of practice, so this comes as a shock. If I have advised you to settle, it would be because of bad facts in your case that could harm you and I would want to avoid placing you in harm's way. But given that I don't know who you are, I cannot address these allegations intelligently or logically; it's very difficult for me to respond without knowing the specific facts. The only client that I could think of who would write such a scathing review was a client from a year ago who came to the office daily and indiscriminately, without asking for an appointment, to talk about the case, deliver documents, take back documents, return to review documents, and then take back documents again, so that our files became disorganized. We had to remind this client to return documents into our office so that we could keep track of them. I do recall this client being complimentary of our office, so I am nonplussed for a number of reasons: (1) the case involving this client was not heading to a trial; it was heading to a hearing that required a reset, (2) I don't voluntarily reset cases; I don't have that option...the Judge or the client makes that decision, (3) this client still owes our office substantial fees and did not honor the contract; one day being happy with our services, and the next day, terminating our services without providing a reason. With regards to trial, if a case merits a trial, it should be tried. If a case could be settled, then settlement is the best option because it saves the client money, time, stress, and possible embarrassment at court. These are the options I always provide the client so that the client could make a well-informed decision. A good trial attorney will always give the client options and let the client decide.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Helene has mediated several family law cases for me, and she is just wonderful. First, Alice in her office is so easy to work with. Every time I've called and needed dates, she's made something happen. She is friendly and funny and will brighten your day. Helene has an ability to help the parties see past the emotion that has brought them to the situation they're in. She has very real, very frank conversation with both sides, and helps them evaluate their best outcomes, their worst outcomes, and their realistic outcomes. More importantly, Helene has an incredible ability to come up with creative solutions. I look forward to speaking with Helene, because I know when I'm stuck on a problem, I can throw it to her and she will have a workable solution I have not thought of. She is very specific in her language choice, to the benefit of the parties, and I appreciate that about her. Most importantly, I get very positive feedback from my clients about working with her."
