In the last 25 years, in multiple jurisdictions, Alan Harvey has had extensive trial experience in the criminal and civil arena from acting as a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, to defending those in employment, labor, and criminal matters. "I believe that everyone deserves competent counsel." Alan Harvey has been in and out of the Northwest since 1966. Alan attended the University of Texas at Austin, and received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and History. Alan spent the next three years working in the financial and medical industry. Alan then decided that it was time to seek a law degree. Alan then attended the University of Idaho College of Law and in 1994 received a Juris Doctorate.
Alan was bitten by the litigation bug in his third year of law school Alan was a legal intern for an attorney who had the public defense contract in Latah County, Idaho. As an intern Alan sat second chair for two murder trials, a Habitual Felony Offender trial, and a defended individuals solo as to misdemeanor trials and preliminary hearings. Upon graduation from Law School, Alan was asked to assist in the defense of a capital murder. Alan went on to work in criminal defense until 1999. At this time he changed course and became a prosecutor. In 2014, Alan left the Clark County Prosecutors Office, after being a Senior Deputy assigned to the Major Crimes Unit and for over 5 years he was assigned to the Children's Justice Center.
Alan has stated the following about his experience in the profession:
In the time I have been involved in the legal profession, I have dedicated a portion of my private time to public service and indirectly service to my the past this involved being involved in educating students in middle schools about the laws related to possession and/or use of firearms on school grounds. It was also my pleasure to direct the Mock Trial Program for two years and also coach for a two different schools for four years. In March of 2012 I had an experience in the courtroom, where a defendant had seizures and I attempted to render aide to him. I felt as though I could have done more for him had I some training." (see links: 1. ; 2. )
A few weeks later I decided to try out for the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol. I wanted to combine my love of the outdoors with my desire to receive training in advanced first aid and help others in need. I was accepted on to the Mt. Ski Patrol and got excellent training. In the last three years I have dedicated time to the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol. This has allowed me to provide treatment to those who are involved in activities at Mount Hood and who also enjoy the outdoors.

Very Impressive Attorney, Couldn't Be Happier
Alan took a complex employment dispute that was very time sensitive and performed a minor miracle as far as I am concerned. The work and commitment this man provided for a very fair fee was counter to every lawyer stereotype I had ever heard. Good man, straight shooter and outstanding attorney...trus...

Gavin Jacob, Former client of Alan Harvey
I endorse this fine attorney for the excellent work he performed in representing me in traffic court. I had been pulled over by a state trooper for switching lanes in excess of the velocity permitted by law. I was only 17 at the time and I really had no idea what to do. I was extremely concerned abou...
"Alan's hallmark is his almost encyclopedic knowledge of the law and his willingness to steadfastly stick to his guns. He's a fighter. I wholeheartedly endorse this lawyer."
"Having worked closely with Alan Harvey in our previous careers as Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys, I have come to know Alan as a tenacious litigator with one of the most solid legal and tactical minds in the local community. I endorse this lawyer."
"I've worked with Alan on a number of cases, both as opposing counsel and when we were on the same side. He brings a tenacity and meticulous approach that few can rival."
"Alan Harvey was, without a doubt, one of the finest senior prosecuting attorneys I have ever had the pleasure of working with, in this, or any other jurisdiction. His word is his bond, and no defense lawyer ever had to worry about a "paper trail" to evidence the course of negotiations, or any agreement, Alan's handshake is all that's needed. Finally, he is a good person, who cares about people, and justice, a concept too often lost in the over worked and politically driven machinery that is the criminal justice system. I have the utmost respect for him as a lawyer and as a person."
"I endorse this lawyer for his work ethic and the professional excellence he demonstrated as a deputy working in the Clark County Prosecutor's Office over the last several years."
"Alan and I have been opposing counsel on numerous criminal matters over the past ten years.. Now that Alan has entered the world of private practice, I know that Alan would be an excellent advocate. Alan has the experience, knowledge and resolve to be able to handle complex and sensitive legal matters. I fully endorse Alan and consider him to be an excellent lawyer."
"I have known and worked with Alan for over 20 years. We have collaborated on a number of matters, and he is often my first phone call when I have a complicated issue to work through. His work ethic, encyclopedic knowledge of the law, and commitment to client service are unrivaled. Any client would be wise to retain Mr. Harvey to protect their interests."
"Alan is a lawyer who aggressively pursues his client's interests and is very knowledgeable in criminal law as well as employment law. Alan will use every legal resource available to secure a just result for his clients. I recommend him without reservation."
"Alan's dedication to protecting people and helping his clients is widely known. He is tenacious, hard working and dedicated to doing the right thing. I endorse him."
