I initially contacted Shawn Alexander for assistance with a breach of contract lease. He handled it well. He always picks up the phone and he knows his RCW laws like a walking encyclopedia. My legal issues continued to compound from a disgruntled minority investor and Shawn continued on. I like Shawn..., I got to know him pretty well through the 5 months of working together. My issue came when the same minority investor served me with "Request for a receivership and dissolution of my company (which was doing perfectly fine). The Plaintiff hoped that by sliding the paperwork in the mail slot on my door would constitute "service" and with 7 days to respond to a 3" thick binder, their hope was that I would be holed up at home for Covid and would not see it and they would get an automatic judgement. Not the case. I saw it later that day. My CPA girlfriend and I worked nonstop to put together a great rebuttal as their lawsuit was junk. The problem came at the court hearing which none of the defense was imagining would happen. They didn't have a plan B if I did receive service and responded. After 3 hours, The judge said "I don't understand exactly what this case is about, so why don't you lawyers go in the back room for 20 minutes and figure out what we're trying to get done and how much court time this could take". Mr. Alexander immediately came over to my girlfriend and I and said "It's just going to be a continuance and call the police as the people who committed crimes (hadn't been charged) are here. While he was taking away all of our attention, the opposing council saw an "in" and quietly said "I'm pleased to announce that we have come to a receivership agreement"...he proceeded much louder "AND WERE ALL GOING TO TAKE 2 WEEKS TO FIGURE OUT THE TERMS OF THAT". I directed Shawn to please pay attention to court in session, Shawn just said "yes, yes, we agree and discuss over two weeks". The judge couldn't even believe it and asked if Shawn was certain that's what his client (me) requested. He said "yes". The opposing council quickly left and I sat for 10 minutes telling Shawn that whatever we didn't hear while you were in our face telling us to call the police just gave the other council a win. He disagreed. But....it was a video'd hearing and that section of the Video was brought up at the next hearing and a Receivership was ordered. I lost my business that I had nearly $500,000 into on the spot as the receiver relinquished assets (to me and my business) as liabilities. The receiver is still raking it over. All of my neighbor businesses had the best summer in history, and not only did we lose in covid, we lost the summer, I lost the business. Shawn had also told my girlfriend and I that "even if we ever possibly lost, we'd appeal it and win because the judge is up for re election." He refused to do an appeal once we lost. So take all of this for what you will. Shawn is a nice guy and can help with property disputes and collecting on claims, but this receivership case was over his head and I lost the majority of my savings as a result. His invoices come by paypal also, not the typical breakdown of time and expense, for what it's worth.

I contacted Shawn and consulted with him about which entity would be the best course of action for my nonprofit idea. Shawn clearly described what my options are and answered all of my questions about what my next steps should be. He was very honest and very generous with his time. I would absolutely... recommend him to anyone who is hoping to start their own nonprofit business.

This was actually my son's case I helped with and not mine. Shawn helped my son go after other family members who were defrauding and devaluing his shares in 2 family businesses. My son wanted out after they were steeling from him for years, expecting him to give up shares in another business he ...was part of also for zero dollars and threatening to fire him if he didn't do so. There we so many other bad things going on also but they didn't want to pay him when he wanted out. They just wanted him to leave and walk away without compensation for his shares even though he worked the business for 12 years making it the very successful business it was. Shawn discussed the problem with my son in detail and found that there was an exceptionally good case...."If" there was enough good, hard evidence. He made it clear early on that he has to have the physical evidence and not just hear-say for everything my son was claiming against the family then the case would be good against them. It took a lot of effort to obtain the requested info needed from the other side but Shawn fought in a hearing to get it which he did get. Once the Quickbooks, bank records and everything needed was in hand, he and my son worked to put an excellent and overwhelming case together. There was so much damaging evidence to produce to the judge hat he scheduled the trial for 4 days. Even then he said he would not be able to present it all so he would have to choose carefully. The complaint filed was 28 pages and the evidence books were 4 inches thick! The complaint and the Trial Brief were so well written with the overwhelming evidence that when the judge read them prior to the trial on the first day it appeared the case was decided before the court was ever called to order. The Judge called the two counsels into his chambers 1st thing to recommend the two parties get together to settle out of court with offers or he would have to tear the companies apart with a chainsaw! The judge really had no idea that the defendant was so arrogant & stubborn that there was no way he would pay for the shares to settle. The evidence was so overwhelming in quantity and damaging to the defendants that the Judge took it upon himself the first thing on day two to demand the defendants to settle by getting a firm to do a company evaluation to calculate my sons percentage value of his shares. The defendants side was never even given the chance to give their side/their day in court so to speak! Shawn says most cases are not quite as easy as this one because there was so much evidence of wrong doing throughout the company but I know that all of his hrs of hard work at an exceptionally good price and his professionalism putting this together from start to finish is what won this case. We know the other side spent about 15K more than my son did and they didn't even get to present their side... and they lost! How much more could anyone ask for? I highly recommend Shawn. He will be honest with you up front. If you are in the wrong he will let you know. If you will automatically lose,, he will let you know. When we asked what the chances were,, he never gave us false hope but a accurate "hope" based on the evidence and what we were up against. He never asks or tell you to say anything except the truth. The truth is always very easy to remember. Probably in most all cases, you will need to repeat your answer 2 to 3 times from start to finish with the" requests for admissions", "depositions" and on the stand. That's what tripped up the "liars" on the other side. Having to remember what they said the 2 times before. Going to court is maybe like sports in one way or more but there is always a winning team and always a loosing team. I know it always feels better when you are on the winning team. Shawn's was definitely the winning team and I'm sure there is no better feeling than walking away with a major win like this one! Thank you again Shawn
