I joined Hart Jarvis Murray Chang PLLC in 2016 after working as a public defender in King County for over eleven years. While at the public defender’s office, I primarily represented clients facing felony charges. I have defended clients facing all types of felony matters, including complex homicides, sex offenses, violent offenses, property crimes, domestic violence and drug offenses. I have been lead counsel in over twenty felony trials and am an experienced trial litigator. In addition to my trial experience, I have litigated appellate matters and enjoy researching, writing and crafting legal arguments.
I am fortunate to work with such a talented team of lawyers. We work collaboratively together and are dedicated to helping our clients navigate the law, protect their interests, and achieve justice. Contact us – we can help!

"I endorse this lawyer. I worked in the same office with Kristen for nearly a decade before she joined HJM&C. For a few years we had offices right next to each other and she became a valuable resource when I needed to work through complex legal issues. I refer cases to her without hesitation. She is exceptionally thorough, and it is known within the legal community that she is a force in trial."
"I endorse this lawyer. As a former prosecutor, I dealt with Kristen on a variety of matters and she was a formidable opponent. Kristen is well respected by judges and lawyers from both the defense and the prosecution. She is a tenacious advocate for her clients and is always prepared and professional. Anyone dealing with a criminal charge is in excellent hands with Kristen!"
"When I was a prosecutor I was opposing counsel to Kristen on many serious cases. I always found Kristen to be smart, well-prepared, and well-versed on the law and facts of the case. If Kristen pointed something out about a case or took a position I knew I'd be a fool to ignore it. I highly recommend Kristen for anyone who needs exceptional legal representation on a criminal matter."

"Kristen and I each represented a client in a multi-defendant violent felony case. I was very impressed with her hard work and aggressive advocacy on her client's behalf. I recommend to her potential clients that they place Kristen on their shortlist as a must hire defense attorney."

"Kristen and I handled a complex homicide trial together. She researched and litigated a pretrial matter that we lost at the trial level, but was reversed and remanded by the court of appeals. She is extremely intelligent, dilligent, and thorough. She thinks of arguments that others do not. She is a skilled writer, confident orator, and a talented litigator. Any accused person would be lucky to have her represent them."
"Kristen and I worked as colleagues at The Defender Association, where she handled a caseload of serious felony charges. Among a crew of dedicated, idealistic young lawyers, her intellectual firepower, work ethic, and attention to detail stood out. If I were facing criminal charges I would have peace of mind knowing Kristen had my back--she is smart and relentless."
"Kristen and I worked together on a case in which we both represented a mutual client (she had the felony case and I had the misdemeanor case). Kristen impressed me as being diligent and well prepared. She was able to get her client into veteran's court despite the fact that some criminal history was potentially problematic. It was clear that Kristen had the respect of the prosecutors' office from her years of hard work. I also know that Kristen is a terrific trial attorney. She has tried many extremely serious cases, often with good results. If you want an attorney who will work very hard and will do everything in her power to get the best result possible, Kristen Murray is a terrific choice."
