John Lucky Lufkin

I called his law office, and Lucky gave me great advice on the phone. It became clear through our phone conversation that I didn't need lawyer representation, but he still walked me through the steps needed to address my issue. For reference, I had a foreign divorce and was asking what, if anything, ...I needed to do to register this with Washington State. He outlined all of the things I could do and walked me through how to take care of it. I feel much better having spoke with him.

I hired Mr. Lufkin represent me at trial for misdemeanor domestic violence charge after firing another attorney who insisted I accept a deal or face "substantial risk of conviction." He reviewed my case and immediately began formulating the various angels to approach a defense. I saw something in h...im I didn't see in the previous attorney and that was a man who was ready to go to trial. He was fast on his feet dealing with the ever changing circumstances in my case but he told me it was a game of chicken and the deals would get better and better as we got closer to trial. The prosecution called four times the night before trying to get us to accept a deal much better than one offered initially but I declined. I was innocent of the charges wanted the vindication of a trial on the merits of the case. I was critical of him in some facets of the trial as I felt he let two of the witnesses off way too easy. After the jury returned a NOT GUILTY verdict after deliberating for a mere 15 minutes, I realized he was watching them the jury whole time. He knew when he’d won a point and he would retreat. Four of the six jurors even came by to shake my hands and wish me good luck! Mr. Lufkin is a very talented attorney and extremely fair with his fee structures. His firm only accepts DV cases associated with divorces but you do not have to use him as your divorce attorney to use him for your DV case. I highly recommend him to anyone who finds themselves in need of an excellent divorce attorney or DV attorney. In fact, I fired my divorce attorney and hired his San Diego firm to finish my case.

When I called Lucky nearly 3 years ago, I had no idea what to expect or what I was doing. The first thing that I said was "Uh, I think I need a divorce" and he responded with "what does that mean?" Lucky listened to my rants and patiently tried to help me sort out what I needed to do. He was much... more realistic about what to expect from my spouse (divorce brings out the REAL crazy in people) than I was and I needed that advice more times than not. Lucky was always correct about what to expect and he was very sympathetic to my misfortune when I decided to be an optimist, instead of listening to him. My divorce took over 11 months to finalize because of many, many challenges. Lucky and I were in contact at least weekly, if not more. Recently though, some unfinished business regarding the property that I obtained in the divorce came up, and Lucky squeezed me in to his schedule and helped me resolve this as well. Every time I speak to Lucky, he gives me the time that I need to explain myself and is fully engaged with me. The man has worked tirelessly on my behalf, while juggling many other responsibilities, so when there are communication lull's, I know that they are not for a lack of effort on his part! I would strongly recommend Lucky, if you're lost and you don't know where to get started, or what you want to do about your situation. I don't believe that Lucky is an advocate for divorce; he's an advocate for his clients and wants the best outcome out of the situation for them. I know that this was true in my personal experience.

He started of our phone interview with aggressiveinterrogation. He starting accusing me of cases back in 2002. Insinuating that I had outstanding cases still open. Which is a total fabrication in which he was trying to intimidate me. I needed someone to amend and modify my child support. Plus my ex... husband has been very abusive to me and using our son to do so. My ex husband is in contempt of court of court. It was just an awful experience. He begrudgingly said he would take my case for 5,000.00. for a contempt of court & modification. He was mean and tried to make me feel like the criminal when I'm the victim of emotional abuse and manipulation and control. It was the by far the most unpleasant and frightening consultation i have ever had. He really scared me with his persona. I needed help but he was drilling me for what reason I'm still perplexed. I would not hire him even if I could afford him. He was simply terrible and unprofessional,. RUDE and egocentric. Women beware he possibly might be a sexist.
