John Lucky Lufkin

Mr. Lufkin has been very forthcoming and honest from the first time we spoke. He told us that our case would be extremely difficult but not impossible. He gave us the approximate cost our case could accrue and he was spot on! Lucky is very aware of every phone call, email and any extra costs that ...arose during our custody battle and did not charge us for any unnecessary costs. He kept all correspondence to us vie e-mail, phone or mail direct and to the point. The only frustrating thing that I can say really does not have to do with Mr. Lufkin. When you hire an attorney you must remember that they are dealing with the judicial system and we all know that it is a very slow process getting a speedy trial with the over crowded courts. I would get frustrated with Mr. Lufkin when I didn't get an immediate response. With that said, I had to remember I was not the only client he was working with and he was not sitting around waiting for me to call and time is money, which we were very conscious of from the beginning. When Mr. Lufkin did speak with us he was very personable and listened to all of our concerns and answered any questions we had so that we understood the answers and didn't speak in Lawyer verbiage. Mr. Lufkin has appeared in front of Judges and Commissioners on our behalf and he has prevailed every time. He sticks to the facts of the case and consults with us before and after he meets with the Judge or Commissioner. Our final court day is a few months away. Mr. Lufkin and his team (Kim especially) have had our granddaughters best interest at heart from the beginning. If we lose it wont be from lack of trying or persistence on Luckys' part. A personal note about Mr. Lufkin.....a lawsuit can be very stressful, costly, time consuming not to mention frustrating, because in todays world we want everything yesterday. Mr. Lufkin stayed on course regardless of our emotional ups and downs through this process and kept us on course as well. I would hire Mr. Lufkin again without hesitation. Roxanne and Mitch

I hired Mr. Lufkin represent me at trial for misdemeanor domestic violence charge after firing another attorney who insisted I accept a deal or face "substantial risk of conviction." He reviewed my case and immediately began formulating the various angels to approach a defense. I saw something in h...im I didn't see in the previous attorney and that was a man who was ready to go to trial. He was fast on his feet dealing with the ever changing circumstances in my case but he told me it was a game of chicken and the deals would get better and better as we got closer to trial. The prosecution called four times the night before trying to get us to accept a deal much better than one offered initially but I declined. I was innocent of the charges wanted the vindication of a trial on the merits of the case. I was critical of him in some facets of the trial as I felt he let two of the witnesses off way too easy. After the jury returned a NOT GUILTY verdict after deliberating for a mere 15 minutes, I realized he was watching them the jury whole time. He knew when he’d won a point and he would retreat. Four of the six jurors even came by to shake my hands and wish me good luck! Mr. Lufkin is a very talented attorney and extremely fair with his fee structures. His firm only accepts DV cases associated with divorces but you do not have to use him as your divorce attorney to use him for your DV case. I highly recommend him to anyone who finds themselves in need of an excellent divorce attorney or DV attorney. In fact, I fired my divorce attorney and hired his San Diego firm to finish my case.

He started of our phone interview with aggressiveinterrogation. He starting accusing me of cases back in 2002. Insinuating that I had outstanding cases still open. Which is a total fabrication in which he was trying to intimidate me. I needed someone to amend and modify my child support. Plus my ex... husband has been very abusive to me and using our son to do so. My ex husband is in contempt of court of court. It was just an awful experience. He begrudgingly said he would take my case for 5,000.00. for a contempt of court & modification. He was mean and tried to make me feel like the criminal when I'm the victim of emotional abuse and manipulation and control. It was the by far the most unpleasant and frightening consultation i have ever had. He really scared me with his persona. I needed help but he was drilling me for what reason I'm still perplexed. I would not hire him even if I could afford him. He was simply terrible and unprofessional,. RUDE and egocentric. Women beware he possibly might be a sexist.
