A general counsel's view

I served as General Counsel for a major pipeline company operating in the Pacific Northwest. Over the years we had need for outside litigation counsel on several occasions. Each time I called upon Erik Lied to be my lead counsel. He proved himself always to be quick to respond, be well prepared n...o matter the circumstances or needs and knowledgable as to the facts and applicable law related to the matter at hand. Equally important, was his awareness and understanding of the opposing counsel and trial judge...most helpful information when the GC is many miles away and not familiar with the local judicial system. If/when the need arises for outside litigation counsel in Seattle and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest, Erik Lied is my go to guy.

In a word " Vigilant "

I can highly recommended Erik Lied. He won not one but two highly complex and complicated multi-state, multi-year cases for me that other attorneys told me I just couldn't win and must settle. He is bright, quick, and I say "Vigilant" because he just doesn't miss a thing. I was kept updated at a...ll times and also received his evaluation of where we stood, where there were risks, and what we needed to accomplish next on a near constant basis. He also worked hard for me to keep costs under control. I have since recommended Erik to a represent a group of investors in Portland, Oregon who were struggling to get their fair share of a large settlement securities settlement. He handled it well and to everyone's satisfaction. I also recommended a friend who was a real underdog in a case that looked hopeless to him. After meeting with him, Erik agreed to take that case and won it for him. If you have need of an excellent trial attorney, for defense, or on the offense; I can't think of a better or wiser man to have on your team. His knowledge is deep and varied. In the Marines we often evaluated a man by considering whether you would choose to have him at your back in a real battle. Erik would be one of my very first choices. He would be my very first call if a future legal problem should appear.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have practiced law for 30 years in Idaho. Beginning in the 1990's I have had occasion to act as co-counsel with Mr. Lied on several complex litigation matters in my home state. He is a highly effective and skilled litigator who also has the wisdom and foresight to see how the case fits into the larger picture for the client. If I needed counsel for a personal matter, I would retain Mr. Lied for both his guidance and advise, as well as his courtroom skill. He has my utmost respect."
