Her breadth of knowledge serves as a platform for her determination and attention to detail that produces successful results and satisfied clients. She is recognized as a formidable advocate for her cleints and a great communicator by keeping clients informed and educated about their case.
While starting her legal career on the east coast, Dana began practicing criminal law in the Pacific Northwest in 1994. Her practice areas include adult and juvenile defense of both misdemeanor and felony crimes. Her positive reputation in conjunction with her experience in a wide variety of courts is a potent combination.
Her experience also includes civil court representation for those accused of child abuse or neglect, often referred to as Dependency actions or CPS investigations. Her criminal background is exceptionally beneficial for clients accused of child abuse or neglect in this arena in that she can protect and defend her clients’ constitutional rights and advise and protect her client if there is a contemporaneous criminal investigation, or threat of one. Dana is highly regarded for exceptional outcomes in complex dependencies involving alleged medical neglect or abuse of toddlers and infants.
Dana also serves students as part of her practice. Whether subject to a disciplinary investigation (including Title IX) at the university level or on the receiving end of a school district suspension or expulsion, Dana's experience navigating the procedural and substantive due process rights of her clients makes a difference. Education defense of students is a uniquie practice area where experience with the particular college or university, or school district administrators, counts. Her criminal defense experience also cannot be understated. Her ability to assist clients with contemporaneous law enforcement investigations arising out of the same alleged conduct as the student discipline case has saved her clients from having to hire two lawyers instead of one.
Additionally, Dana’s background in drug and alcohol abuse and addiction provides another layer of experience for advancing her client’s interests. As a former member of King County Drug Diversion Court , also acting as attorney supervisor, Dana gained a strong appreciation and understanding of the role drugs and alcohol in accused person’s life. Her broad knowledge of the sentencing alternatives and treatment courts available have made the difference in the outcome for many of her clients.

She is currently a member of the King County Bar Association’s Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee which assists the public by providing ratings for judicial candidates. She is also a member of the Washington Defender Association and the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Excellent experienced and ethical attorney
I would recommend Dana Brown to my family and closest friends. She got back to me immediately, was an excellent communicator and highly knowledgeable which helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. I can’t thank her enough!
"I referred a very good friend to Dana for her CPS/dependency matter. Dana was amazing. She jumped right in and worked very hard with my friend on her case. After about six months of hard work and research Dana was able to prove that CPS completely failed in their investigation. This resulted in the court dismissing the dependency and returning my friend's children to her. I firmly believe that had my friend taken the attorney provided by the court there would have been a different outcome. While those attorneys are good they have so many cases and simply do not have the resources to put into a case like Dana did. Anyone going through a CPS and/or dependency matter needs to have an attorney on their side from the very beginning. Dana would be an amazing choice and advocate."
"I have known Dana for most of our twenty year careers and recently had the opportunity to work with her on a complex child abuse case. I cannot speak highly enough about Dana as a lawyer and a person. Dana is relentless in the defense of her clients, incredibly detail-oriented, strategic, and a great communicator. She has intellectual firepower and can engage with any medical expert as a peer. Dana is a compassionate person who is not afraid to engage in battle for her clients in and out of court. This is who I would want in my corner if I were charged with a child abuse offense."
"I endorse this lawyer. Dana is an outstanding attorney and anyone would be lucky to have her as their lawyer. Highly recommend."
"I worked with Dana for 10 years. She is a passionate advocate for her clients and enjoys the respect of both judges and opposing counsel. She is skilled, compassionate and diplomatic, easily earning the trust of her clients. I refer to her with confidence."

"Any client of Ms. Brown's can expect an intelligent and well thought out defense. She covers all aspects of the defense and goes above and beyond what is the norm. Now Ms. Brown has gone into her own practice, an even wider group of people will have an opertunity to be represented by her. She will continue to give all her clients a dedicated and well thought out representation."
