I am connected with my clients through each step of the process regardless of how complex their matter may be. My focus is my client's long term goals and providing information and guidance as well as specific strategy to help them navigate their new path with respect and dignity.

My ex and I did a collaborative divorce. We had the documents underway and needed assistance to get across the finish line. Courtney and team did a great job of reviewing the materials, advising on items, and then finalizing and filing the papers. I am very grateful that I engaged her services.

Competent. I can’t recommend her for divorces where domestic violence has been an issue, as both Story and the divorce coach she assigned to our case lacked the necessary understanding of abuser behavior and its impact on children and family dynamics — to the point where victim blaming became an iss...
I appreciate all feedback and information provided from my clients. It helps me improve my skills. I respect this client's feelings and am sorry her Collaborative Law experience was not as she wanted. The divorce coach mentioned has an extensive background in domestic violence and complex family systems. Often attorneys and clients have different expectations of what the law and a legal process can and should do, and while I always strive to honor my client's goals, I am bound by professional ethical standards as well as my own values when doing so. We reached a durable agreement in this case through the Collaborative Law process, as chosen by the client. I have represented survivors of domestic abuse throughout my career including Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs), establishing Parenting Plans with statutory restrictions, and through all aspects of divorces. I have volunteered with various legal organizations focused on assisting families and survivors of domestic abuse. If you are a potential client who has questions about my professional approach and understanding, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you.

As a collaborative lawyer I felt like she took a holistic view of the marriage and was able to balance that with being my adv...
