Avoid

Figured I’d share this here for future reference if anyone gets a ticket. I received a minor speeding ticket recently and contacted Fred Hopkins, whom I’ve used in the past. Experience: • Emailed his office 3 times over 2 weeks asking if he could help with copy of the ticket (used email on his si...te). • Never heard back. Sent ticket in requesting a “contest” hearing. • Finally called and asked about the ticket. Front desk person Christina was short, rude. • I asked about my emails, she said he’s old school, doesn’t use email. I asked if she receives those emails, she said no. • She said they would now charge me $50 (“expediting fee”) because the dispute case was in 2 weeks. • I asked if she could waive the fee based on me attempting contact 3 different times and having used him in the past, she said no. • I asked if I could speak with Fred Hopkins, she ignored me. She told me to go back to ARAG. • I told I her I wasn’t really happy with this experience and she essentially hung up on me. I looked at some online reviews and the say he essentially uses a “deferral”, which you can use yourself if available. I researched what he did for me, turns out he simply used a deferral. My advice would be to AVOID this law office. This person was the most unprofessional, unpleasant person I’ve spoken to in a long time. I see no way to actually reach Fred Hopkins directly at this point either to make him aware of his assistant’s behavior.

Unbelievable Service!

Mr. Hopkins and his office were wonderful to work with. I felt that our issues were immediately handled and they were very clear on what we needed to provide to help the case move forward as quickly as possible. Mr. Hopkins also did not give us any false hopes, but was straight-forward about the po...tential legalities involved. He ultimately led us to a fair resolution of the situation. The help was greatly appreciated!

Excellent traffic lawyer in the Greater Seattle area with consistent results

I have hired Fred on two separate occasions for contesting traffic tickets - one for allegedly jumping a traffic light on red, and the other for speeding over 20mph. He got the first one mitigated and the second one dismissed. Apart from being pleased with both the results, I found Fred to be very re...sponsive, upfront, efficient, and capable, which made the process very stress-free for me. He has a ton of experience in dealing with traffic cases and handling them in the Greater Seattle area courts, which I found very reassuring. His office staff is also very efficient. The entire paperwork for both my cases was completed over email; I didn't even have to go to their office! Fred called me when the case hearing was done with the result and his assistant followed up with an email on both occasions. I would recommend Fred highly for traffic-related cases - he came highly recommended from my co-workers at my workplace, and the praise is well-deserved.

Fred Hopkins - recommended!

It has been great experiences to work with Fred Hopkins at O’Brien Law Firm. I was caught speeding when I was trying to move from left lane to right so that I would not find myself in line for the I-90 on ramp. When I contacted Fred, he listened to my case attentively, and explained to me all ...options and result that can possibly come out so that I can set the right expectation. Although my case is not complicated (no accident, and I have clean record), Fred treated my case professionally. e.g. When Fred tells me he would call back at a certain time, he always keeps his promise. Michele is the firm's legal assistant and works with Fred. She is the person you communicate with most. I found Michele very responsive and crisp in providing the necessary information to move your case forward. I am happy the judge made a decision in my favor. I have been very careful at that junction since January, and always remind myself to be a responsible driver.

Very good experience

My first experience contesting speeding ticket with attorney and, honestly, Fred exceeded my expectations. He responded fairly quickly, explained all what's needed from me and what to expect. Next thing I heard from him was that my ticket was dismissed.

"Mr. Hopkins is a college of mine whom I frequently see in court. I have observed his courtroom work for a number of years, and know his knowledge of the field is deep as well as broad. He knows the judges, the proclivities of the prosecutors, and the law extremely well. He takes great care to address the needs of his clients. An excellent attorney."

"Fred is a great lawyer who really cares about his clients. He is also an accomplished musician and an author. He wrote the definitive book about wills in Washington state (appropriately entitled Wills for Washington). He was a great guest on Legal Line with Bob Pittman (on KIRO Radio) and explains the law in plain English. You can count on Fred."
