My legal expertise focusses mostly on Domestic Violence, Assault, No-Contact Orders and DUI defense, stressing negotiation in many cases to obtain discreet outcomes, avoiding trial when in my clients' best interests. My clients are my top priority. I am accessible to them and work tirelessly, late hours and weekends too when needed, to fight for their rights and protect them. In the courtroom, when you are charged with a crime, when I am your criminal defense lawyer I am your best and often your only friend.
In the DUI/criminal defense arena, I at effectively presenting to the prosecutors and the courts the flaws in the police work and reports and the client’s compelling circumstances. I have absolutely helped my clients avoid a lot of jail time from my various aggressive, tactful and creative approaches, some of which I pioneered. I am experienced in creating unique and time-proven approaches to criminal defense matters. That is why I have a record of success as a criminal defense litigator and have helped so many people save their jobs, their reputations, their driver’s licenses, etc. I have been helping people save their driver’s licenses and protecting their freedom for over three decades. I have been told many times that I saved clients from very tough legal dilemmas, huge prison terms, and did “a stunning job” representing and defending them. I continuously research the latest cases, legal treatises, scientific literature, and articles about drunk driving defense, criminal defense and family law, allowing me to be on the cutting edge always. I take a holistic approach to every client, as each person and their case and history is different and unique, and as every client has different legal goals. I know how to read and scrutinize a police report to find all the issues of improper, dishonest and weak police work seeing all the ‘angles’ to bolster your defense. I know how the system works and how to best present you and your case in court and to the prosecutor
I have been practicing law in the King and Snohomish County area since 1986, with over 30 years of experience in criminal, DV and DUI defense. I am a member in complete good standing with the Washington State Bar Association and belong to several professional associations. I have also been a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lake Forest College (1972), where I majored in Chemistry and International Relations, was consistently on the Dean’s List and was nominated Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society (the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States).
I received my law degree (J.D., Juris Doctor) from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1982, graduating “with distinction,” in the top 11% of my graduating class, winning a moot court competition, and was elected by the law school faculty to the esteemed “Order of John Marshall,” an honorary law student scholastic society. I passed both the Illinois and Washington State Bar exams the first time I took them. Getting your case dismissed, always my initial goal with every single case, is always my highest priority. I have gotten innumerable charges and cases dismissed. Whether you’re facing a DUI, an Assault or DV charge, a felony or a misdemeanor, I know what a tough time this is for you and I'd like to meet with you so we can go over your case.

DO NOT HIRE
I hired Phillip L. Weinberg as my defense attorney for the first DUI case, I've ever been charged for. We met at a QFC for my consultation, which seemed odd to begin with. I handed him any documentation from the arrest and pre-trial records. He then had me immediately run around to meet with my physi...

Never ever.
Mr Weinstein does not have an office, he wonders freely like a nomad. I met him at Sharis, Starbucks in woodenville, in his Volvo reading my charges. I had an indecent exposure and 4th degree assault was facing a year for a gross misdemeanor. He literally took me as a fool. He had me do an obsole...
Dear R., I think you may be confusing me with someone else. My name is Weinberg and not Weinstein as you state in your review. I have checked my records and do not see any clients with Indecent Exposure charges for over 10 years. I am sorry you had a bad experience with your former attorney but, in all honesty, I do believe you are confusing me with another attorney. If I am mistaken please call me at your earliest convenience so we can attempt to rectify the situation amicably: 425-367-1122. Best Regards, Phil Weinberg

Dont hire
No office meets in very public places. Which is crazy with the amount i alone paid him.Not prepared for courts. Doesnt remember anything about my case. Over charged. Would have gotten same results without a lawyer. Not confidential. Worst part of my whole court experience. I dont think I had one pho...
Dear Anonymous, As hard as I try I can never please everyone. I do have three offices (Bellevue, Seattle and Everett) but I often find that clients would rather meet at places more convenient to them and would like to get something to eat, coffee etc. when talking. I do apologize for interrupted phone calls but in my business phone calls come in almost constantly at times and everyone considers their matter to be urgent so it’s hard to make everyone happy and not interrupt calls sometimes. I am trying to improve on not taking interrupting phone calls while talking to clients. Sometimes I am waiting on a call from a prosecutor for weeks or a court calls me on a calendaring issue but sometimes the judge’s concerns. But in the client’s shoes I’m sure it’s quite frustrating and so I apologize to you for that. Please call me so we can attempt to rectify the situation amicably. Best Regards, Phil Weinberg

Respectful and effective
Phil is exactly what I was hoping for in this difficult journey through being charged with a DUI. He never overpromised, nor underdelivered. He has a style where you have to trust his process, but he earned my trust early on, and never betrayed it. Cheers to Phil.

"Some clients end up wondering if their criminal defense lawyer is secretly working for the prosecution. It's a common question often asked about defense lawyers-- "Whose side are you on?" I've been asked the same question many times over my 40 years of practice. But, with attorney Phil Weinberg you should have no worries. I regularly appear before the same judges in the same courts as Phil, and I am still surprised at his tenacity and zealousness. He is no pushover, and it's easy to see which side he represents. He strongly advocates for his client- he's not beholden to the prosecution."
"As a fellow colleague and elder, I respect Mr. Weinberg's work and zealous representation of his clients. He is a great individual to work with and consult. I enthusiastically endorse his work."

“During the 29 years I have practiced law in Washington State, I voluntarily agreed to a 2-year suspension with the Washington State Bar Association for substance abuse in 2004. I was reinstated at the earliest opportunity in 2006. I feel this experience has, made me a better attorney. My client reviews show my renewed success and dedication to their legal goals. I know from my own struggle with this issue how to overcome it and have helped many clients in court who have had similar problems.”
