Adoption complete!
Hearing the words "the adoption is final" was a huge celebration for us! We would recommend Michele Hinz to anyone going through the adoption process. She knows about all the little details and you can feel confident she will handle everything correctly and timely.

Adult Adoption from Overseas
I got in contact with Michele in June to help my surpirse my Step Father and ask him to adopt me for Father's day. I expressed that I was stationed in Italy, but that was not an issue and she was super flexible with our contact issues and the time difference. She was super efficient, and so kind! She made the process easy and painless. We just got our notification today! I cannot express how grateful I was for her guidance! She was great at communicating, and did often enough check-ins that showed she clearly cares about her clients.

Thanks to Michele, our family is now COMPLETE!
My husband has been wanting to adopt my daughter. He has raised her since she was 2, she is now 14. We contacted an office near our home that directed us to the Adoption Coordinator in Tacoma. She gave us a list of attorneys that would be able to work with us. I reviewed each of the attorneys and knew Michele would be the one we needed. After our initial conversation, I knew it my heart we made the right choice. She was very thorough in every aspect of what we could expect and what we might need to do if the non-custodial parent was not cooperating. We had no idea of how to contact the non-custodial parent as he was absent from her life since age 2. In less than 24 hours, Michele found him and called me. She spoke with him and advised that my husband wanted to adopt my daughter. Long story short, he signed his rights over! We had our Adoption interview with the Adoption Coordinator and within a few weeks we had our hearing date! Michele was there to answer all my questions via phone, email and text. My family and I would recommend her services to anyone looking for adoption assistance. She is truly amazing and we are very grateful to her!

We couldn't have done this without Michele!
We had been wanting to have my husband adopt my son from a previous relationship for years, but were unable to locate the birth father and weren't sure he would even give his consent (he has not historically been the most logical or agreeable person). Last summer, I found out bio father was in prison, and thought, we have an address, this is our chance! I got Michele's name from the adoption court in Tacoma and I'm so so happy we hired her. At the consultation, she walked us through everything that needed to happen and made a complicated, overwhelming process seem doable. Then, off Michele went to visit my ex in prison. She came back with a signed consent. She has been doing this for a long time and knew just what to say to convey the fact that this was in everyone's best interest. I dont believe we could have done this without her. She helped with filing all of the paperwork (we basically just looked things over for accuracy) and checked in with us each step of the way. She was always there to answer any questions we had, and we feel like she truly cared about our family. She is simply the best, you won't be disappointed. Also exciting: her daughter will be working as an adoption lawyer soon and is just as lovely. I would hire Michele again in a heartbeat, we had the best experience!

Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty
Michele did an outstanding job handling the filing and scheduling of vital appointments to make our adoption smooth and easy. She understands the process, and documentation that Service members may need to be reimbursed for the adoption fees, and guides you through the adoption process. We hired her through a friends recommendation and she did not disappoint. She is extremely knowledgable, and her legal fees are very reasonable. Hire her!

Just Wonderful
Michele was absolutely wonderful. I'm so glad we were able to work with her for our daughter's adoption. There were some factors in our case that made our adoption atypical (as if any adoption is typical!), but Michele was knowledgeable and always went the extra mile to make sure everything was exactly the way it needed to be to make the process as smooth as possible. And she was always a phone call away with anything we needed. She made the legal side of adoption simple for us! It was such an enormous weight off our shoulders amidst all the emotions and uncertainty of the process. Additionally she was just a kind, compassionate person, and she gave us excellent advice on ways to best handle and move forward with the open, kinship nature of our adoption. We highly, highly recommend her! Her expertise is excellent, she is professional, and a wonderful person to work with! We're so glad she is a part of the beginning of our daughter's story.

A compassionate and caring attorney
Michele helped us navigate through a very tricky adoption involving 3 states and 2 CPS investigations and adoption subsidy. Our adoption was so long and drawn out that we thought it would never finalize. Michele made this process so much easier and much smoother. If you are looking for an attorney who will make things move quickly and smoothly she is the one for you.

Excellent attorney
We hired Michele as our attorney for an out of state adoption. Michele was very helpful, positive, knowledgeable, and did a great job keeping us informed throughout the process. She worked well with the attorney from the state where our baby was born and seemed to really care about how we were doing during the whole adoption process. Our adoption was recently finalized and we couldn't be happier. Michele is an excellent attorney and we would not hesitate to hire her again. Her rates are more than fair and she was always there for us when we had any questions or concerns.

Highly Recommended
We hired Michele for a readoption proceeding in Washington state court following an international adoption. She was everything you'd want in an attorney--thorough, client-focused, and very knowledgeable about the relevant law and local court. The process could not have gone more smoothly, and we'll use her again if a similar need ever comes up.

Michele made our dreams come true!
Michele helped us in a complicated year long adoption. Whenever we had questions or just needed to be reassured that everything was okay she answered her phone or email right away and put our minds at ease. She was definitely the key to making our dreams become a reality. If we ever adopt again, we will definitely hire her again.

Exceptional Attorney
Michele took on my very volatile and frustrating case with compassion and determination. What we needed in order to terminate my infant child’s biological father’s rights was a unique situation never tried in Pierce County before. The details would make little to no sense to someone not in my very particular situation so I will spare you those. However, regardless of the idiosyncratic nature of my case, Michele was confident in every choice she helped us make and steered us through the hoops of court the whole way, even dealing with difficult opposing counsel/respondent with great result, garnering us the intra-family second parent adoption/termination of rights we sought. The judge even commended our ability to utilize the court system to the best interest of the child in such a new and unique way. That was all Michele’s idea all the way! She was able to help us gain the finalization in less than a year. In all honesty, she helped save my daughter’s life. My family and I will be forever grateful for the personal touch and kindness she brought to us during the most chaotic and scary time of our lives. She truly was a blessing for us. Besides being a phenomenal attorney in her area, she is incredibly fairly priced and honest to boot. I hope you enjoy having Michele as your attorney as much as we did. You can’t go wrong in this choice.

Very knowledgable and trustworthy. Highly recommend
We recently hired Michele Hinz to represent our family in a step-parent adoption. When I first started the process of researching lawyers I was very discouraged. Many attorneys wouldn't take on my case because there were too many unknowns or they said it was too complicated, or I didn't get call backs, etc. when I called Michele it was a completely different experience. For starters, she answered her phone. It wasn't a secretary, or paralegal, it was her. It felt very personable. She took the time to hear my story from the beginning and help me understand what would be needed from me to move forward. She explained with lots of patience all the bumps in the road we might face but was very helpful and clear of how we could handle them step by step. Her communication was very prompt, clear, and professional. She made things easy to understand and made all the paperwork manageable. She answered emails, phone calls, and text promptly and efficiently. She always kept us updated on the latest developments and always in the loop of what she was doing. She was very clear with the financial aspect as well which I very much appreciated. The transparency is what made me sure I wanted to hire her because I knew I could trust her. When it was all said and done we couldn't have asked for a better experience and outcome. I would highly recommend her. She is smart, sharp, knowledgeable, and most importantly, she can be trusted.

Exceeded Expectations - Professional and Genuinely Cares.
Not only would I recommend Michele, I want to adopt from Washington again just to get to work with her! Our experience was fantastic! She is detailed and responsive, answers her phone or text even late at night. She is well-connected and those relationshipships certainly helped move our adoption through the process smoother. She even coached me through a couple of tough times when I needed to bounce my frustrations off someone who could return a voice of reason, and she did just that. Lastly, she truly cares about the work she does and the clients she helps. She has gone beyond the call of duty and provided some in-person attention to our birthmother when we needed help, even after our case was closed. I will gladly talk with anyone that is considering hiring Michele. I'll give you an honest answer to any question you have about our experience. Michele has our number, just ask for Ryan from California.

Michele made it easy.
After trying to adopt my Stepdaughter by doing the paperwork myself, I quickly found that I was in over my head. The home study guy I used suggested I give Michele a call. I'm so glad I did. Michele got everything together in fairly short period of time. Gave me options at every intersection and with her experience, we made decisions that culminated in success. There where issues with our case that made it a little more than the run of the mill adoption. International players, legal issues etc.....Michele was a fantastic navigator and proved herself to be a true professional and an expert in her field. Thanks so much Michele, you helped us complete our family and we can't thank you enough.

Great Job / Wonderful Person
As I hold my sleeping daughter of 17 days, it is with great pleasure I write a few words about our experience with Michele. My wife and I live in the DC area, and through an agency, adopted a girl in Auburn WA. As a financial planner, I interact with many attorneys. Few seasoned lawyers have been as pleasant to work with as Michele. At all times we felt well represented knowing our personal interest were in the hands of a competent attorney. Additionally, words can't express our appreciation for Michele's softer human side, including the many calls with my wife, (helping me) keep her focused in a positive way through out this emotional process. We would be happy to provide personal feedback if you want to reach out to us (law permitting of course). It's been a pleasure.

Applaud Wholeheartedly
I applaud Michele Hinz wholeheartedly. Michele showed me that it is possible for a birth-father's heart to be changed. Her compassion, vision, and leadership qualities were instrumental toward having my son's birth father relinquish his rights. Her personal approach and stellar effort to communicate with the birth father, located in a remote prison, was commendable. While advising me well and explaining every step of the way, Michele worked tirelessly and without complaint to take care of the inevitable, unexpected bumps. Her can-do, helpful attitude was exemplified during the process as well as months later when the Decree needed to be amended. Above and beyond, Michele's care for my family made this a most memorable and significant experience. Recently, Michele sent a thoughtful letter to my ten year old daughter and after reading it, my daughter said, "I'll always be grateful for her. She's extraordinary!"
