Joel Geelan

I recently had the privilege of having Mr. Joel Geelan as my attorney. My case was a very difficult one from the start. I was in a very abusive marriage with what looked like no way out. I fled the state of Connecticut with my two children looking for refuge and safety. When I arrived in Oregon, ...I was put on a waiting list for almost a year just to talk with legal aide. I was told with the duel state issue, domestic violence, filing for divorce, and custody battle my case was just too complex; No one could help me. I was grateful that with all these hard and complicated issues Gevurtz and Menashe agreed to let Mr. Geelan take on my case Pro Bono. In what was a very scary and emotional time for me, Mr. Geelan stood by me through the whole entire divorce process. Not once did he make me feel like I was just another case. I really felt he truly was looking out for the girls and I and cared about what happened to us. He went above and beyond making sure I understood the process, even making sure I knew all possible outcomes. I liked that he always kept a positive outlook even when explaining worst case scenarios. He was very thorough and well prepared, always thinking one step ahead. Because of his continued diligence through this long process, I believe we achieved the very best outcome. I recently hired Mr. Geelan (Joel) for my recent divorce and child custody case. He did an excellent job. To be honest in the beginning I was a little worried because he looked so young when we met in person and I wasnt sure how knowledgeable he would be. Turns out I had absolutely nothing to worr...y about. He is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of family law and knows the process of a divorce case inside and out. He heard my desires for how I wanted the case to turn out and he was honest and didnt give you false hopes but did keep your desires in mind throughout the whole case. The other party turned difficult in the end but Joel handled it like a pro. He handled it with kid gloves when it was needed but was more "stern" when he had to be. I felt he truely cared about me and my family and nothing is better then that then actual "winning" and I felt he helped me accomplish that as well.
