About Jace
Biography
Jace D. Cook founded Cook Law - there when you need it® in 2016, a dynamic general practice law firm established in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with a strong focus on criminal defense. In 2022, he transitioned from the firm to take on a pivotal role as a prosecutor with the Linn County District Attorney’s Office, where he skillfully handled both misdemeanor and felony cases. Concurrently, Mr. Cook served as a dedicated JAG Officer with the Oregon National Guard, a commitment he began in 2020. He currently holds the position of Interim Brigade Judge Advocate for the 41st IBCT HHC in Clackamas, Oregon, exemplifying leadership and legal expertise in both civilian and military spheres.
Mr. Cook returned to Cook Law in early December 2025, moved the office to his hometown of Grants Pass, Oregon, and is available for hire at this time.
After spending several years gaining experience in multiple disciplines of the law, Mr. Cook envisioned a practice that would treat clients like family by providing a combination of personable legal advice and the strongest representation possible in criminal defense. Having worked as a public defender at Multnomah Defenders Inc., a criminal defense associate for former prosecutor, now veteran criminal defense attorney, John Gutbezahl, and as a prosecutor for the Linn County DA's Office, Mr. Cook has successfully tried misdemeanor, felony, and restraining order cases before judges and juries. Prior to his work in criminal defense, Mr. Cook gained significant experience at general practice law firms, personal injury firms, and in-house legal departments. Mr. Cook learned what did and did not work...what did and did not benefit the client. From his time working with former prosecutors, Mr. Cook has a thorough understanding of the principles, procedures and strategies employed by DA offices. Based on the above foundation of "real world" experiences and knowledge, Mr. Cook built Cook Law and is now representing clients in Grants Pass, Oregon and surrounding areas.
