Criminal Defense 40%

For five plus years, I did criminal defense trial work for Southern Oregon Public Defenders. Now, I have even more resources and time to defend each case. I have represented clients on charges ranging from violations to murder with dismissals and acquittals at EVERY level. I have filed hundreds of motions to suppress and engaged in thousands of hearings. I have also successfully negotiated cases from violations to serious felonies.

DUI and DWI 40%

The bread and butter of criminal defense work begins and ends with the DUII. DUII is one of the most serious allegations a person can face. I have dealt with all aspects of DUII litigation from DMV hearings to trials, having handled more than 400 DUIIs in my five and a half years of practice. These cases are technical and require an eye for detail.

Justin was empathetic, hard-working, intelligent, and willing go above and beyond to help me deal with the worst day of my life.

Justin was empathetic, hard-working, intelligent, and willing go above and beyond to help me deal with the worst day of my life. I had never needed an attorney before the accident that sent me to Justin, but if I find myself needing one again; I will definitely call on Justin again. From our very ...first meeting, he was empathetic and respectful. He was able to calm me down, and clearly explain how the case and situation would unfold. He helped calm down my fears over the worst-case scenario and was willing to go the extra mile to ensure the result I wanted. Justin made the case into a team effort, it felt like he wanted a positive conclusion just as much as I did. Justin was available with any questions or fears we had. He walked us through the case slowly, ensuring that we were able to understand the ramifications of the court case beyond the complicated legal speak. He was prompt and careful when negotiating with the DA and got us the best deal we could have asked for. Justin was able to negotiate a case with a possible 8-10 years in prison (due to Measure 11) into a few years of probation and an eventual downgrade from felony to misdemeanor. The accident and this court case were life-defining; the verdict could have absolutely ruined my life and future employment. Justin was able to transform a potentially life ruining accident into simply another hurdle in my path. I am absolutely thankful and grateful that we were able to contact Justin to handle my case, and I received the best judgement possible. If you are looking for a criminal lawyer to handle your own worst day, I would definitely recommend Justin. He is hard-working, kind and is beyond experienced. He was familiar with every aspect of the justice system, and even more impressively was able to explain it all to me. He knew everyone who would be involved as well, from DA to my judge. His significant experience was a balm to my anxiety, and his empathy ensured that I felt like I was heard. He was willing to listen to what I prioritized in this case rather than bulldoze me with his own opinions. Justin is an exemplary example of a criminal lawyer, and I simply cannot recommend him enough. I am eternally thankful for his actions in saving me from years of additional pain.

Excellent

Justin did an amazing job representing my family member in a difficult situation. Justin is also a warm and kind human being--qualities we all value at any time, but especially when going through a rough experience. My family member's case involved serious mental health issues that were undiagnosed, ...and therefore untreated, at the time charges were filed. Justin understood the situation immediately and made sure my family member received much-needed medical treatment while also providing legal representation as the case moved forward. When presented with the facts by Justin, the court agreed that my family member belonged in the mental health system, not in jail. Thanks to Justin, my family member is now getting long-term treatment and will have the opportunity in the future to live as normal a life as possible. I am deeply grateful to Justin for his work on my family member's behalf. I can't imagine getting through that painful ordeal without Justin's guidance, expertise, and positive outlook. I would heartily recommend Justin to anyone.

Best lawyer in the area, and a great guy!

Justin Rosas is the bomb! He is the first lawyer I have hired that actually cared about me, my case and my family. He fought tirelessly for me through the 4 years of investigations and harassment by federal agents, and when the federal prosecutor threatened my family with prosecution if I didn't take... a plea deal Justin helped me with getting the best deal possible in the circumstances. Then when federal Judge Ann Aiken threw the book at me and sent me to prison, Justin Rosas continued to fight for me. After less than half of my sentence, Justin was able to get the sentence vacated as an illegal sentence and get me released. He did this without being able to contact me through the Federal Penitentiary due to their terrible communications procedures. Justin Rosas is not only the best defense lawyer in the area, I now count him as a personal friend. Thanks, Justin!

Extremely Grateful

My son was facing an assault charge and it seemed his public defender was going to be too busy to help our son get through this nightmare. I searched the internet one night and came across Justin's website, and read the AVVO reviews. I called Justin the next morning and within a very short period o...f time he returned my call. That was the beginning of our journey. Before even signing contracts, Justin went to visit our son, and retrieved prelim info from the police dept. By the time we met, Justin was involved and focused on what needed to be done. We are so grateful Justin was available to help us through this very difficult time. Justin not only has passion for justice; he has tremendous compassion for his client. Just a few months after this whole ordeal started, our son is NOT in prison and is finally back with his family. We believe this would not be the case had we stuck with a public defender. Thank you Justin, for everything. Tracy

"Justin Rosas is a tireless advocate, outstanding trial attorney, and consummate professional. Justin is that rare attorney with both extensive trial experience and seemingly endless youthful energy; he is a seasoned attorney with a dynamic personality that draws you in. Justin is tirelessly devoted to client-centered advocacy and works his magic in the details that often escape attorneys with less dedication or experience. He has a rare intellectual curiosity that keeps him sharp and engaged. Justin is the first attorney I call for advice or to discuss legal issues both broad and narrow; he is well-read, always informed, and exceptionally articulate. Justin’s finest attributes are exemplified in his trial work and at hearings. I often attend his appearances and I am always impressed with the way he handles witnesses and presents his client’s narrative. I learn from Justin every time I watch him work. Simply put: you will not find a better advocate than Justin Rosas."

During the years I worked with him at Southern Oregon Public Defender I never saw him give anything less than 100% to each of his clients. He is passionate about criminal defense. He is smart, creative, and charismatic. I watched him build a reputation with the Jackson County DA's office from the new guy in town to the guy they don't want to mess with. Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
