About Richard
Biography
Growing up in Washington, D.C., Richard observed first-hand the real-life differences between those with power and influence, and those without. Against this backdrop, Richard’s family instilled in him both a love for the law, and a value system that prioritizes helping others.
After graduating from Princeton in 1993 with a degree in philosophy, Richard spent the next decade working his way across the country, gaining in life experience and insights, and ultimately found himself living in Portland and attending law school in Salem at Willamette University. Richard received his law degree in 2006, and since then has worked exclusively as an Oregon criminal defense attorney, representing and helping thousands of people in the years since.
Richard’s view of how to be a great lawyer matches perfectly with the Reynolds Defense Firm’s philosophy. Richard understands that to be a great lawyer requires more than just courtroom excellence – a great lawyer is also one who leaves his ego at the door, who realizes the importance of understanding and relating to each person he helps, and one who, at the end of the day, truly cares about his clients and the work he does for them.
Richard likes to spend his time keeping an eye on his favorite baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays, and being home with his boys – his young son Henry, and Bandy, his rescued shelter dog.
