I don't even know where to begin. I was really nervous about hiring a lawyer. There are so many to choose from and I had never needed a lawyer before. But I found myself in way over my head trying to get caught back up with my debts after losing my job. I had been recommended to Jacob by a friend who... had also filed bankruptcy, and I am so lucky I called. First of all, it's my fault for not going with my gut feeling and stood my ground with my husband . That being said my husband went to see him about bankruptcy , we were less then 20,000, in debt. He didn't recommend consumer credit counseling or consolidation as an alternative which he also helps ...people with. On top of that my mother was terimal. From what I have read you should never file if you intend to inherit. My husband said he told him about my mother and he still didn't advise him to a different avenue. So yes my mother past. Once you you can't go back. I had to surrender my inheritance this all started in August, it now almost January and still don't have what was left over back., my credit it screwed even though i paid it all off. On top of the bad advise he has only replied to me a few times and that's when I said I would go to the trustee to find out. I have never had to deal with lawyers so this would be my first experience and it has been miserable.
