A truly top-notch attorney

My siblings and I hired Steve Zipper to advise us through the process of dealing with our parent's estates, both before and after their deaths. We had many decisions to make and did not know where to begin. Steve advised and guided us through decisions regarding our parents' waning mental capaciti...es; LLC law; tax strategy for two trusts; the resignation and replacement of two trustees; coordinating with real estate lessees; and the distribution of assets to four beneficiaries. Through it all, Steve was a true professional. He returned our calls and emails promptly; always made sure we understood the law and the steps we needed to take; he made sure the trustees understood and were up to date on their duties; and he helped us resolve our conflicts (not an easy task). Steve earned our trust with his legal acumen, diligence, and his genuine interest in the well-being of us all. I am delighted to give him my highest recommendation.

Charges to much and not experianced in estate taxes

I went to Steven Zipper with a simple probate for my mother’s house. This is a probate that the lawyer that I switched to charged me $3,000.00. Steven performed some work on the probate documents and talked to my accountant. My accountant recommended filing a 706 form. Steven stated that he was not a... tax attorney and could not recommend whether to file a 706 or not. At the only meeting I had with him, Steven told me that I did not need to pay until probate was closed so I did not check his bills for four months. I checked the October bill and it was up to $10,164.30. This is for a probate that should have cost about $4,000 total. I immediately canceled our relationship and found another lawyer. Steven Zipper had my bill up to $12,969.20 in Dec 2016 a few months after I fired him. He kept adding to the bill even after I fired him. My new lawyer told me to just pay the bill and write him off as a lesson learned.
