I called James up during a crisis. My situation with my son and his mother was difficult to say the least. After hiring James to represent me he quickly tore down the barriers that she had established to keep my son and I apart. With his help we were able to negotiate a strong parenting plan and garu...ntee I had him 3 days a week.

I consulted with James about a very simple parenting plan modification. I'm not an attorney, however, I've spent countless hours reading and studying RCW 26 and have a solid understanding of the laws. During my consultation James gave me terrible advice, and completely lied about several things. Jam...es told me that unless the mother of my children was a meth addict or something similar that there isn't a basis for modification. When I told him I have my children 10-12 unscheduled nights every month he was more concerned about how that reflected their mother than as a basis for modification. He also said that even though I have my children 50% of the time that there was an extremely small chance that my child support would be modified based on parenting time and it was not worth pursuing. James also quoted me a combined $10,000 retainer (which is around three times the standard rate for a modification) and said "that might get me close to the finish line but not all the way there." After my consultation I spoke with several acquaintances who work in family law as well as a relative who is a Clark County judge and each of them were appalled at the terrible advice I received from James. I would definitely recommend James Lutes to anyone who wants to overpay for terrible advice and representation. As for myself I've decided to take the risk of filing Pro Se rather than waste my money on an attorney that is willing to flat out lie to a paying client.

He has been there for me every step of the way and explained the entire process to me. He has sent emails out on weekends and at 10 at night. He was always more t...han prepared for hearings and times in front of the court. He has been more than just an attorney sitting on the other side of the table, but has guided me for what is in the best interest for my situation. He is up to date on current laws and very familiar with not just the law but how decisions are usually made in the family court system depending on the judge. I have my law degree and know a great attorney when I work with one. I can't say enough great things about James. I didn't always win everything but that's just not how life works and had nothing to do with his abilities as an attorney. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing an attorney.
