Mr. Lewis is the most forward, honest, diligent, professional, and compassionate attorney I have ever met. I received a DUI in October 2015 and I reviewed Mr. Lewis's reviews on yelp which were outstanding. After reading reviews for almost 12 other attorneys; Mr. Lewis reviews made me the most comfor...table and gave me a gut feeling he was the attorney for my situation. In Brief, I was charged with 1st DUI offense and refusal on the criminal side, ADLRO case on the civil side. Won all three charges thanks to James after a 10 months of heavyhearted court experience. After 4 drinks in the course of 5 hours one night, got pulled over on school street freeway off ram...p, cop accused that I was swerving. Did average on the road side test, kindly refused to give breathalyzer test on site, request to be taken to station. Cops were joking around with each other at the station, and proceed with rushing me through the paperwork. For whatever reason, the breathalyzer did not register. After 4 attempts, the police officer in charge thinks I am toying with the machine, and charge me with a refusal on top of my DUI, $1000 in bail total. Drinking and driving is definitely against the law, regardless of the magnitude to how drunk you are. But we are all human, and human make mistakes. Fighting a DUI case does not mean you are challenging the law, but to learn the most from it, refrain from doing such again, yet not to have your life ruined by it. Being fresh out of college, due to this case, I had my job offer withdrawn from me (regardless of result, strict). All I want is to either redo that night, or face it and treat this as a major life lesson. Dealing with the legal system is no joke. As most of us lack the in depth knowledge of the law, fighting a DUI case for oneself probably would not be wise. Looking at alternatives, hiring a lawyer, you also don't want to pay a bunch of money to someone that you have never met and has no credibility to comfort your situation. I went online and got some names, after talking to a few lawyers, James appears to be very knowledgeable and friendly, most importantly, understanding. Throughout our trials against the state, James took care of my civil and criminal cases in a relatively smooth and swiftly fashion. However I do have to admit, there were times that I got a bit frustrated at James, as the case kept on dragging and I felt that it is not moving forward as fast as I expected. But in the end, the wait was worth it, as all three charges were dismissed. One amazing thing I would like to emphasize. The first four months before I won my civil case, James continuously helping me in extending my temporary license so I can drive to work and all, so during the ten months, there wasn't one single day that I couldn't drive. James won't be the most expensive DUI specialist you will find, yet, won't be the cheapest either. I find his rate reasonable, as he has some solid reviews; The last thing you want is to hire a guy that is only interested in quickly finishing your case and take your money, disregarding the result of your case (might as well throw your money down the drain). Knock on wood, I hope I will not have to hire James again, but if the time comes, I would definitely recommend James to my friends and people I come across in the future, and myself also.
