Good Laywer

Arrested for a DUI, and was scared of what could have been (a criminal record). James took my phone call and agreed to meet me within a couple hours (unlike a couple other lawyers). He clearly explained my situation, and what I could expect, both good and bad. It was his quiet confidence that won me ...over. Its hard to choose (and pay in advance for) a lawyer, since there aren't any "stats" like a win/loss percentage to judge him or her. My experience now is that you must just trust the lawyer's judgement and try to not worry. My trial went on for an entire year; it could've ended sooner for better or worse, I think; but James played the long game as that always increases the chances of a dismissal (like if the police officer doesn't show up). After having to appear in court 4 or so times, we had no choice but to go to trial. It was fascinating to watch James dismantle the police officer's inconsistent testimony, and along with the smart move of convincing the judge of toss out a key piece of evidence against me, James was able to give me a Not Guilty verdict. I watched many other lawyers handle DUIs in my hours sitting in court, and James seemed like the most well put-together package in terms of rapport with the judge, making sure that the client felt better about his/her unfortunate situation, and knowing how to work the law and trial process to the client's eventual advantage. Highly recommended... he's not the cheapest (but not the most expensive either), but a DUI is a costly mistake anyhow, and you must do what you can to keep your record clean.

Bottom Line Up Front - "CASE" DISMISSED.

Bottom Line Up Front - "CASE" DISMISSED. Professional, prompt, responsive, moderately priced, empathetic, goal oriented and delivers results. Worth every penny and every minute. This was my first DUI ever, I had no idea what lay ahead, and I was worried about the consequences. James was gre...at. My case was postponed once. The second hearing came around and the state was unprepared again (the officer did not show again). When my case was called, James argued my specific circumstances for a dismissal. Being out of state, my financial situation and the expense to fly in for trial twice, having had my license already be revoked for a year, and also pointed out that the officer once was sick once and now sick again. The judge sided with us and the case dismissed. I was very pleased and relieved. James asked the judge to think about my situation and brought out the judge's sympathy. He did a remakrable job and if felt any pressure, it did now show in the slightest. On a technical side, James has experience, know the system INSIDE and OUT and got my OVUII dismissed. It's been a long, grueling year; I don't know how he did it, but I'm finally stress free and very very grateful. He will be available for you, and make time for you. James took my several calls, returned my messages promptly, and kept me informed every step of the way. James will explain to every client what to expect, his pricing structure, and everything in-between. I even asked him to explain my options to testify. He did a masterful job. Without regret, I am relived that I went to James Lewis to represent me. You should NOT think twice, we truly wants to WIN every case he takes.

Thank you so much, James!

I was in the middle of my last year at university and made a stupid mistake one night. I was so terrified and sure that I ruined my life for good that I was just about ready to give up and plead guilty to everything to make it end. My brother did some research and found James and his wonderful review...s, so I decided to take a chance and give him a call. From the very first phone call, with me in tears and clueless as to what to do, James was very professional and supportive in offering me help, advice and a very generous payment plan for this broke college student. I graduated 5 months later and had a job offer in another state that I wasn't sure I was going to be able to take, but James managed to get my license back and the case dismissed with prejudice another 5 months in. I am so incredibly grateful for James and his hard work to ensure that I got my life back! Thank you again, James!

DUI case finally dismissed!!!

Aug 2013, the worst experience in my life. Police officers showed how they are capable of abusing their authority. This is what happened to me. I was pulled over for an illegal turn (no sign there at the time) by the waterpark on my way to Zippys. It was a common turn most people including officers u...sed. The officer who initially pulled me over was upset I turned in to the Zippys parking lot. He then told me he smelled alcohol on my breath & called an army of police to assist. In shock, I didn't understand what was going on at that point. Another officer abruptly came to me, asked me if I would take a breathalyzer test, I said no in confusion & he said I was under arrest. Before I knew it, I was in handcuffs & on my way to Kapolei police station. What was an illegal turn stop, turned into a DUI charge. At the station, the DUI officer & female officer dropped a form in front of me & quickly said "sign here, here & here" I didn't understand the form tried to read it & I asked them "What if I don't sign it?" & the officer said, "then you're going to jail", I was shocked. All I could think about was my kids, I have to be home for them. I signed the form (coercion). I took the breathalyzer twice & was transported to Pearl City station by the same DUI officer to do a blood test. Got to Pearl City, sat quietly & waited in cuffs & no slippers. Asked to use the restroom, was refused. Asked a third time & he finally let me go with cuffs on. The officer felt I was taking too long, he tried opening the door while I was trying to pull up my pants with cuffs on behind my back. I slammed the door with my body & told him "you try going with handcuffs on." I felt violated. On our way back to Kapolei station, the DUI officer made the same illegal turn by the waterpark that I did & got pulled over for. I couldn't believe it. Then I sat in a cell waiting for my mom to bail me out. The same officers lied at my revocation hearing saying I was belligerent & couldn't stand up straight. Yet, during that whole experience, I was in shock & could barely speak or move. I wasn't drunk, belligerent, disruptive or disrespectful. I was in utter shock & disbelief. I listened & did everything watoltdododododo. I believe in doing good & owning up to my mistakes. However, no one deserves to be mistreated no matter what the reason. Police Officers don't have the right to abuse their authority & MISTREAT & LIE about others, it's wrong!!!!!! I found info about attorney James Lewis online. I called him, told him my situation & he assured me he could help me. He made me feel comfortable & stopped me from worrying about the worst. I trusted him and my DUI case was finally dismissed!!! I'm thankful & blessed.

DUI case dismissed!

I was charged with a DUI in July 2015. It was my first DUI and I did not know what to do feeling like everything was a nightmare. All I knew was that it was best that I hire an attorney ASAP after talking to people that was charged with DUI before. I searched for DUI attorneys online and made ca...lls. James was the first attorney to call me back out of all the calls that I made. He was very professional and yet comfortable to talk to and calmed me down over the phone as I was in a panic with my DUI situation. Upon meeting James in person for consultation, I knew right away he would be able to help me to the best he could no matter what the result may be. He was very patient and listened to what happened on the night I was charged with DUI. James explained to me the process that we would have to go through step by step, and answered any questions that I had. Then reassured me that it will be alright and to take a deep breath. He is very knowledgeable of the DUI laws and Hawaii state laws. Intelligent, respectful and trustworthy. Throughout the entire time, he kept me informed and answered to all of my questions via emails and calls regarding my case. My biggest concern was the criminal side charge. After 7 months, my DUI case was dismissed! Thank you so much James!!! You literally took the heavy weight off my shoulders from a very stressful situation. You understood my situation that I was in, you were very professional and I am so glad that I hired you as my attorney!!! I highly recommend attorney James Lewis for DUI cases.
