WHEN IT MATTERS MOST, YOU NEED AN ADVANTAGE. WINNING SEX OFFENSE AND OTHER UCMJ CASES REQUIRES EXPERIENCE, EXHAUSTIVE PREPARATION, AND TOTAL DEDICATION. AS A RETIRED MARINE CORPS JAG, I LOOK FOR WINNERS. SO SHOULD YOU. CALL NOW FOR A FREE CASE EVALUATION. 844-928-0914

Mr. Liebenguth specializes in defending military service members facing court martial, NJP, administrative proceedings, and criminal appeals for allegations of rape, sexual assault, fraud, drug offenses, violent crimes, and all other military offenses. Although based out of Hawaii, Mr. Liebenguth's practice is worldwide.

He is a retired Marine Corps military attorney (Judge Advocate) as well as a former member of the United States Coast Guard. He is a graduate of Amherst College, Emory University School of Law, and the Marine Corps University Resident Command & Staff College, where he received a Master’s Degree in Military Studies. In 2006-2007, he deployed with 2d Battalion, 3d Marines to Haditha, Iraq, the unit whose combat deployment is the subject of the 2019 book: The Warriors of Anbar: The Marines Who Crushed Al Qaeda—the Greatest Untold Story of the Iraq War. Mr. Liebenguth later worked at the Pentagon and taught military law at the United States Naval Academy. He has also been an invited speaker at military criminal-law conferences in California and Washington, D.C.

In his many years of practicing law, Mr. Liebenguth has litigated high-stakes military criminal cases from every perspective possible: as a defense counsel, an appellate defense counsel, a prosecutor, and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. As an appellate defense counsel, he successfully petitioned the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals for oral argument in a remarkable number of cases, including:

Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Stewart, 71 M.J. 38 (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Hayes, 70 M.J. 454 (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Bradley, 71 M.J. 13 (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Norwood, 71 M.J. 204 (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Watson, 71 M.J. 54 (C.A.A.F.)
United States v. Fosler, 70 M.J. 225 (C.A.A.F.) (Now Cited in Manual for Courts-Martial)
United States v. Sullivan, 70 M.J. 110 (C.A.A.F.)

Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Parker, 71 M.J. 594 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.) (Death-Sentence Case)
United States v. McGuire, 2012 CCA LEXIS 458 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Warren, 71 M.J. 505 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Hackler, 70 M.J. 624 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Fosler, 69 M.J. 669 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Hayes, 2010 CCA LEXIS 364 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)
United States v. Saxman, 69 M.J. 540 (N-M. Ct. Crim. App.)

As a result of his success, Mr. Liebenguth was recognized as the “Silver C.A.A.F. Tongue” award winner for arguing more cases than any other military appellate defense counsel.

As a defense counsel and prosecutor, he has litigated felony-level cases, including but not limited to those involving allegations of murder, attempted murder, rape, sexual assault, assault and battery, burglary, and child endangerment. Mr. Liebenguth has also been accepted for publication on a wide range of military topics, including alcohol-related sexual assault and the Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act. His professional affiliations and licensing include the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces, the Supreme Court of Hawaii, the Hawaii State Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Accused of sexaul harassment
I never expect to be wrongfully accused of such serious crime. I found myself in situation that I had no idea what to do or who to turn to. I did some research and looked at review. I came across Jeff. I contacted him, we spent at least an hour on the first call. He quickly started to give me advice and come up with a plan that ultimately cleared me of all charges. As an attorney, he is intelligent, knowledgeable, focused, and effective. As a person, he is honest, to the point and trustworthy. I cannot express the extent to which I am grateful for his services. I hope and expect to never be in such a scenario again, but if I were, I would seek his help without hesitation. Jeffrey Liebenguthis, is without any doubt, an exceptional military attorney. That I would recommend to everyone.

Board of Nursing license rejected for background
Jeff helped me with my case of being rejected by the Board of Nursing after successfully completing the nursing course but I could not test out to receive my license. My rejection came from a background that I received in the military. The plan of action was to give him all documents that I received on my background and the emails stating why I was rejected from Board of Nursing. After connecting everything we had talked about what he wants to do and how he was going to do it. His very detailed and specific letters to the Board of Nursing cleared me of my background to take my NCLEX. I will now be taking my test for nursing license next month! Thank you, Jeffrey Leibenguth

Great honest lawyer! Great advice!
I contacted Mr. Liebenguth to consult me on my case proceedings. He was very patient and explained all the procedures very thoroughly. My case was not very complex and he advised that I save my money and stick with my ADC. Mr. Liebenguth is very knowledgeable and will not take your money unless he believes he can help you with the case. Everything turned out just fine with me and I got an LOR instead of court martial. Mr. Liebenguth is very easy to talk to, his advice is solid. He really cares about people. Highly recommend!

Mr. Liebenguth is a super sharp attorney
Jeff represented me in a General Court Martial case with multiple charges referred against me. The first thing I noticed about Jeff after meeting him was that he is a super well-spoken and sharp individual. What I appreciated about working with Jeff the most (other than getting all of my charges dropped) was that he had no problem explaining all the aspects of my case and possible outcomes. If you are not well versed in law, the Court Martial process is confusing at best and nonsensical at worst. It made me feel much more at ease to really understand what was happening in my case and what the possible outcomes were. This is an attorney that has a passion for practicing law and it shows. His presence in the courtroom was strikingly classes above the government attorneys and was without a doubt a contributing factor to the desired outcome in my case. Outside of the courtroom, Jeff is a very easy-going and likable guy which was always a breath of fresh air after a stressful legal proceeding. I would highly recommend Mr. Liebenguth to anyone facing serious legal charges. Hiring Jeff was well worth the investment.

Oustanding support and outreach
I hired Jeff to help me and to review my case following a military investigation. Jeff was prompt to respond, forthcoming on my options, and quickly put together a case for my defense. Since then, he has continued to follow up with me to check-in and see how I was doing. He shows a genuine concern for his clients and welfare and not just an unknown person. I would highly recommend him.

Retired Navy CAPTAIN/ Physician
Major Jeffrey Liebenguth was exceptionally helpful during a very difficult time In my life and career. Attorney Liebenguth expertly analyzed my case and provided sound legal advice that resulted in a fair and just resolution of my case. As a military member, it is sometimes essential to get legal assistance to help prevent the machine /system from rolling over you and potentially destroying the career and reputation, that you likely dedicated years of your life to achieve. This is exactly what Mr Liebenguth did in my case, if not for his representation, I may have lost everything I spent over 30 years earning with my professional life. I would strongly encourage anyone, friend , colleague or relative, who found themselves in difficulty with any legal situation to seriously consider hiring Attorney Jeffrey Liebenguth to protect their rights, and reputation. I would not hesitate to do so again.

Highly recommended
Jeff Liebenguth helped me prepare my administrative case in my appeal to the Board to Correct Naval Records (BCNR). Jeff reviewed my package, provided extremely helpful insights and corrections, and helped ensure that my package was as solid as possible prior to submission. He also provided information on follow on steps to take and what to expect in this convoluted process. Jeff was direct and to the point, but also extremely professional. I found him to be highly competent, knowledgeable, and effective at his job. This was my third appeal and i had been unsuccessful on my previous two attempts. With Jeff's assistance i won my appeal, which positively affected my career on multiple fronts and led to my promotion to the next higher rank. I highly recommend Mr. Liebenguth to represent you for your legal assistance.

appellate defense counsel
Jeff Liebenguth represented me during my appeal to the military's highest court -- the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (CAAF). He examined the record of trial, identified new aspects to the issues we had argued to the lower appellate court, and developed compelling ways to present our evidence of serious errors -- errors that set the stage for a wrongful conviction. The end result was a unanimous opinion that reversed the conviction and dismissed the case against me. Every case is unique, and so is every court and every judge. But Jeff Liebenguth's skillful representation was vital to the effort to correct a horrible wrong. I enthusiastically recommend Jeff Liebenguth for your legal counsel!

Jeff Liebenguth represented me during a military discipline action case. He negotiated a pre-trial agreement which resulted in NJP in place of going to trial. Jeff was straight forward, he informed me of potential risks, and told me what to expect throughout the process. Greatly appreciate his professionalism.

"Jeff is a fierce litigant who has practiced at the highest levels of military justice defense practice, from courts-martial through appeals in front of the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. I was a government appellate counsel while Jeff was in the defense appellate office, and he was widely respected by my office and the court for his zealous and proficient representation of his clients. He secured precedential victories that reshaped military judge practice at the time. I highly recommend him to any peer or client who is looking for a great advocate"

Relationship: Worked together on matter
"Jeff served with me in appellate defense when we were both on active duty. He is incredibly smart, incredibly passionate about military justice, and devoted to helping servicemembers who need help and making the system fair. What impresses me most about Jeff Liebenguth is how brilliant he is at simplifying the most complex legal issues into terms that make it impossible for judges not to see when a servicemember was being treated unfairly by the legal system. He has my strongest possible endorsement for anyone who needs help with a military justice issue at the trial level, appellate level, or in military administrative board cases. His talent and advocacy in military litigation are outstanding!!"

Relationship: Worked together on matter
"Jeff Liebenguth is a hard hitting lawyer that has well deserved reputation for being a highly skilled and aggressive criminal defense lawyer handling serious cases at both the trial and appellate level. He is an innovative, critical legal researcher and writer. I have worked with Jeff on several cases throughout the past 20 years at the trial and appellate level. He is known for being a tenacious appellate advocate when he presents oral argument. I was also able to see first hand his impressive advocacy skills, not just at drafting legal documents at the trial level and in writing appellate briefs for the highest military courts but most importantly his superior oral advocacy skills when personally arguing before the courts. He is committed to winning. There are very few others you want on your side when the odds are stacked against you. I highly endorse this true gladiator."

"Jeff and I worked together at Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in a unique position of having to routinely provide bad news to his fellow judge advocates. A consummate professional, he was as adept at delivering the bad news, in a positive manner, as he was in providing good news. He followed that tour with an assignment to the Navy and Marine Corps Appellate Activity, where he earned the reputation of being a fierce advocate for Sailors and Marines. A true problem solver, Jeff has my endorsement!"
