Joedy Paul Defrank

I retained Mr. DeFrank out of pure desperation I will say Mr. DeFrank talks a good talk. When I explained to him the circumstances, I was very pleased with what he had to say over the phone. But he showed up to court completely unprepared. Could not find papers I had given him. He did not keep me we...ll informed about my case despite NUMEROUS attempts on my end. I had to leave messages daily and email him at the same time to get a response maybe a weeks later. Twice he has scheduled court dates without notifying me until a day or 2 before. He does not advocate for his clients. He offers no advice. I expect to tell my attorney how I feel and for him to advise me on how the court may see it etc. He does none of that. I could go on and on. Overall he seems like a nice enough person that is just going through the motions and collecting a check. If you want passionate and zealous representation he is not the attorney for you. He wasted my time and money both of which I will never get back.

The 2 other positive reviews for Joedy Defrank looked like canned generic response to boost Mr. Defrank's ratings. Simply put his services were severely lacking. I wish I had followed my gut to not deal with him but I didn't do it, I was short on time and scared of having to deal with the divorce. I... had even been online and saw a negative review of this guy through my research but I figured my divorce would be simple and something this or any lawyer could handle (custody, debt and assets were all ready figured out between me and former spouse). I thought I was different. WRONG! Ok what makes Joedy Defrank a lawyer not to recommend? 1. He never follows through without constant monitoring and prodding 2. Uses the age old - needs more money after you figured out a ballpark range for payment 3. you have to HOUND him to update you on ANYTHING 4. He never provides you with copies (said he would get my final divorce notice, never did) 5. avoids you AND your calls 6. 31 year in the business and he showed me he was just going through the motions (no pun intended) 7. Most importantly, you are but a number and the services provided were not even the bare minimum. I know this now only because I used Joedy DeFrank's services and went through the whole divorce process and learned the hard way. If I save one person with this review, then it's one less heartache and scary rollercoaster with a lawyer that won't have your back when you need it most. Please be kind to yourself, always do your homework on your legal representation, and find another lawyer, there are decent ones out there. I cannot recommend Joedy Paul Defrank as one of them.

I hired Joedy DeFrank for my divorce. He did not return my calls. He did not file the correct paperwork for court appearances, did not keep appropriate records and did not have me sign a contract nor did he give me a statement of estimated work. Mr. De Frank literally dropped my case TWO DAYS befo...re trial with no reason. I am filing a complaint with the Bar Association. DO NOT HIRE HIM. JWood SAC. CA. He owes me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I hired Joedy DeFrank from Pre-Paid Legal Services, our agreement was not in writing, he wanted two thousand dollars down and said he would work for 125.00/hr. I would call and call and he would never return my phone calls and when I finally did talk to him, he would tell me to shut up and wouldn't e...ven let me talk. He told he before the hearing on Sept. 19. 2008 that he needed three thousand more dollars to get ready for trial and we didn't even go to trial, he told me that this dissolution was over on Sept. 19th and in the mediation hearing he didn't fight for me at all, my ex to be got exactly what he wanted. I received alimony which went towards the house payment, and by the time I pay income taxes on it, I will be in financial ruin. Then I get more paper work in the mail and he didn't give me anything in writing of another court date on Dec. 16th, 2008, I had to call my husbands attorney to find that one out. I lived in Kentucky and I had to set up the over the phone conference up
