AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. If I could give him less stars I would. He is a scam artist. He never calls me back. His secretary would leave me on hold for so long until I would hang up. Then she would just ignore my calls. I know that because she answer immediately when I called from my another number.... She proceeded to say he answered but my connection was bad. # Bad at calls When he finally did answer my call weeks later he said I was a low priority client. My question is after working with him for little under a year. With all of this. How does he have any clients. # Took 2 grand and did nothing After my loss I was sent an invoice for a grand more. When he has never explained how the original grand was used. # Never showed up to court He would miss court. An claim he was never served with the papers. So he "would file" an appeal. Which never shows up in the case files. *If you go online you can check the progress of your case, just cannot download any files* It's all public information. That is how I know hes a lair. What papers he did "service" the respondent. Were never signed dated or even filed with the court. # Would leave aggressive voicemails I got a call from a very angry ex, whom shared with me the voicemails he would leave them. Hostile, boarderline violent, mean and threatening them. I hired him yes but not to abuse my ex. # He would Submit to the courts unfinished, poorly written and badly spelled documents. Every document he did submit was poorly written and always misspelled. The judge laughed at this. I looked like an idiot. # He never updated me on my case Up until the last court date. I never knew what was happening. Only thing he would tell me is that my pos ex would get what's coming. That I was in complete compliance of the law. When it came down to the last court date I was almost thrown in jail for my negligence. I was listening to my lawyers advice and it nearly wound me up in jail. Not only that I now have to pay 6x more then what I would have been if I never hired him. # Nor told me I needed to file or submit any documents. I was never told I had to submit any kind of documents. Which helped my ex win there case. # I lost my case due to his negligence. Not only did I lose, he was not even sorry and the day before court he charged me another grand which I never got back after the loss. # I never recieved a single email or document from him or his secretary. He never showed me how he spent my retainer. My ex showed me the timesheets they recieved from there lawyer. Down the the minute was charged and labled. # He would claim to have never recieved any sort or document or summons from the respondent. He played dumb saying he never recieved anything even after I saw that he was faxed everything. I dont understand we took an oth and he flat out lies. Over and over. To the point I feel he honestly believes it. There is something seriously wrong with this man. #He will take your money and never see you again. HES CHEAP FOR A REASON! HE WILL DO NOTHING!

I flat out laugh at these canned 4+ star ratings. I hired Joedy from a pre-paid legal service that I had from my work. Joedy was incompetent from the start. He failed to file my income reports at the first divorce hearing and told me that he would just get a continuance. He was denied the contiuan...ce and my now exwife got 3/4 of my paycheck because he screwed up. He then refused to return my phone calls and it took over a year for him to finalize my divorce. I had to threaten to report him to the CA Bar to get him motivated. I ended up doing all if the leg work from 1200 miles away. But if your soon to be ex is in need of lawyer recommend this joke for sure.

very professional and knows what he is doing, very experienced and busy man who takes his time to do what is right, get to know your situation and does not mislead at all, very upfront and honest. charged a flat rate and stuck to his word. never asked for anymore money and stood by me and my family u...ntil the end. very successful outcome thank you Joedy , he will be our family attorney. outcome was was never promised but delivered the right outcome for situation at hand , a genuine person to hire very upfront sometimes blunt and to the point will not wast any time . thank you Joedy. sincerly Abe W.

The 2 other positive reviews for Joedy Defrank looked like canned generic response to boost Mr. Defrank's ratings. Simply put his services were severely lacking. I wish I had followed my gut to not deal with him but I didn't do it, I was short on time and scared of having to deal with the divorce. I... had even been online and saw a negative review of this guy through my research but I figured my divorce would be simple and something this or any lawyer could handle (custody, debt and assets were all ready figured out between me and former spouse). I thought I was different. WRONG! Ok what makes Joedy Defrank a lawyer not to recommend? 1. He never follows through without constant monitoring and prodding 2. Uses the age old - needs more money after you figured out a ballpark range for payment 3. you have to HOUND him to update you on ANYTHING 4. He never provides you with copies (said he would get my final divorce notice, never did) 5. avoids you AND your calls 6. 31 year in the business and he showed me he was just going through the motions (no pun intended) 7. Most importantly, you are but a number and the services provided were not even the bare minimum. I know this now only because I used Joedy DeFrank's services and went through the whole divorce process and learned the hard way. If I save one person with this review, then it's one less heartache and scary rollercoaster with a lawyer that won't have your back when you need it most. Please be kind to yourself, always do your homework on your legal representation, and find another lawyer, there are decent ones out there. I cannot recommend Joedy Paul Defrank as one of them.
