I have been very impressed with Seth Hanson Law. Bankruptcy is stressful and my case was somewhat more challenging because I have been based overseas for some time. SHL was my third or fourth try at finding a firm that knew how to handle my circumstances. From the get go in my dealings with Spe...ncer and Crystal to them setting me up with a call with Mr. Hanson and then to my more in-depth dealings with my case manager Chris; the whole process was handled professionally, efficiently and with the utmost care. I was very reassured that Mr. Hanson had experience with international clients in CA bankruptcy cases. He showed a command of my particular situation that I couldn't even get through the front door with the other firms. I had tried doing research on my own as well and as a layman, found it very complex and confusing. Frankly, it didn’t seem feasible until I engaged with SHL. I spent the most time with Chris going through all the steps and information required. He was very detail oriented and methodical. He too had experience with clients in bankruptcy who are based overseas. Things like exchange rates and different tax regulations can make the process a little more tricky. 25 years ago, I got in over my head due a a fiance being killed in Europe, then my mom dying of cancer with spotty insurance, zero income, and massive bills. I refused to declare bankruptcy and sold my house and car and spent years eating Ramen. (Lesson learned--we now have a much better filing system.) Seth, Chris, and Amy worked with us and Seth and Chris helped to figure out when the most strategic date to file was. Ultimately, the outcome was so much better than I expected and all the stress and shame I felt were needless. Afterwards, Seth sent us another of his books about "after bankruptcy." You'd better believe we'll be following his advice as we rebuild our credit. Prior to everything going sideways we were both over 780 on our credit scores and we want to get past that and into the 800s, but only use the credit as needed and pay it off ASAP.
