I was charged with 7 felonies and I was facing jail time and over $10,000 in fines. Mr. Cohen was very proactive in handling my case and worked very hard to come up to speed regarding my situation. He was very effective in his reasoning and negotiations with the DA. He communicated with me regularly and returned my calls promptly. I have had multiple attorneys on other issues in the past, and none were as responsive as Mr. Cohen. He was successful at reducing my charges to a single misdemeanor (that was subject to expungement) and also cut the fines almost in half. He also kept me out of jail. David Cohen represented me on for a DUI expungement in El Dorado County. He was extremely respectful and courteous even though the expungement was not as straightforward as possible. Was open and honest from the beginning about the process, and anticipated fees. Very professional and knowledgable - I was treated with the utmost respect by David and his staff. He was always prompt to respond to any call or emails I made to his office. My youngest son has been arrested quite a few times for drug possession and sales, and this year was facing a long prison sentence for Probation violation. Mr. Cohen has been the attorney for my son through the various arrests and rehab attempts, and he has continued to advocate for fair and compass...ionate sentencing and access to both drug and mental health resources. After months of hearings and delays, this last case was just resolved without prison time, and included provision for the mental health piece that has been missing in the past. I have to say that the important part of our story is that this situation with my youngest son closely approximates the same situation we went through with my older son, and which Mr. Cohen also guided us through. After many, many arrests and a 1 year prison term, my older son has been clean for nearly 5 years now, is completely off of parole/probation, and has not had an incident with the law in all these years. So, both Mr. Cohen and my family know that given a chance, recovery can happen, and these kids can turn it around. Unfortunately, we have come to think of Mr. Cohen as an integral part of our family... but I'm always grateful that he's there when we need him.
