A+ Federal Case Attorney
Unfortunately I was federally indicted in a large conspiracy case. There were over 30 others that were indicted and I wasn’t even added to the case a month or two after the case had started. I mention that part because I was one of the defendants that started fighting their charges after everyone else and one of the first of a few that have been sentenced. I was quickly able to finally put it behind me. He didn’t let my case drag out like you normally see in federal cases. I feel he went above and beyond In several ways and on several occasions. For example, he fought hard to get me out of custody and on pretrial quick! Unfortunately, fed pretrial was no cup of tea and I ended up back in custody 6 months later. I take full responsibility for that. And because I didn’t take my pretrial release seriously, I had to remain in custody til sentencing. He drove hours to visit with me in person at the jail on several occasions. He always made sure I understood everything and took his time to go over every detail and answered all my many questions. He discussed all my options with me and what I would be possibly facing by continuing to fight or what I would possibly face if I was to accept responsibility and plead guilty. He never pressured me to do either or. He left it completely up to me and assured me he would fight for me no matter how I decided to proceed with my case. He explained everything thoroughly and always answered my collect calls from jail. Always. Even on Sundays. When I decided how I wanted to proceed, he was able to get me a court date a month sooner then what I was already on the calendar for to help me hopefully get back out of custody. Bottom line, Ed fought hard for me and was able to get me a way lower sentence than what was originally offered to me. Thank you Ed. You really saved me in allot of ways.

Excellent Defense Lawyer - I wouldn't go with anyone else
I was facing some serious life altering criminal charges. I interviewed several lawyers and ended up retaining Mr. Jones and have utilized his expertise multiple times. He is a well respected and trusted lawyer in the community. He is very smart, thorough, hard working, and has delivered the best possible outcome each and every time I've used him. Additionally, I found him much more reasonably priced than any other lawyer out there. Thank you, Ed!

Really disappointed
30 minutes late on day of sentencing. Filled motions late. Don't waste your money.
Response from J. Edward Jones April 20, 2023
Client was charged in Federal Court with drug trafficking and had a mandatory minimum of 10 years prison. I was able to negotiate an amended charge and a sentencing range of 2-4 years. On the date of sentencing, I checked the court docket and confirmed court was at 10:30 am. The court called me at 10:00 am and told me that they changed the time to 10 am but did not update the docket. I was in court by 10:20 am. I litigated a motion to have the client designated as a minor participant, and the U.S. Attorney's Office told the court that they did not oppose the motion. The court considered and denied the motion in spite of the non-opposition. Client, who was also on State Parole at the time of this offense, was sentenced to 4 years prison. Client was disappointed with the outcome in spite of the sentence being 6 years below the original mandatory minimum sentence. After 27 years of trial practice in criminal law, and multiple jury trial wins in Federal Court, this is my first bad review. You cannot always please everyone.

"I've been friends from Mr. Jones since elementary school, and was his room mate in law school. While never having the pleasure to work with him on any matters, as we are not licensed in the same jurisdictions, I am aware of his experience and record as a prosecutor, as well as his private practice experience. I know him to have great court room skill as well as research and writing abilities. More importantly, I know him to be of the highest character. I highly endorse this lawyer's work."
