Alexis Anne Wilber Moody

I cannot thank Alexis enough for coming to my rescue on a very challenging, time sensitive, highly contentious custody, divorce, and DV case that occurred over a Labor Day weekend a few years back. He and I filed emergency papers for custody the day after Labor Day at different courthouses, and ended... up going in front of 5 judges at the end of the case! Get this. She took my case on the spot, even after I disclosed my financial hardship (applying for her help through the Modest Means Panel), & how aggressive a litigant my Ex was. She did not bat an eye to his extremism, the pressure, and the high stakes of each and every move we made in family court. She might be young and diminutive, but she stood heads above the handful of lawyers I consulted with. Licensed for seven years, she has earned accolades as a volunteer/staff attorney at the Pro Bono project while still in law school. Since then, she has been a force to reckoned with, serving as Chair of the Family Law section of the Santa Clara County Bar Assoc, Court Appointed Minor's Counsel - all the while juggling opening her own Law Office & having a baby girl. Don't let her youth, soft-spokeness, and compassion fool you. She is strong of mind, heart, & soul. Always smiling, and putting me at ease in court, through the nerve-wracking process of facing off with the ex. She even worked with me to minimize costs by coaching me on how to conduct myself to win a five year restraining order, to file, review, and eventually write my own docs (i.e. Stipulation and Order Re: Child Custody, Visitation & Child Support) for her review before filing them in court. It speaks volume to Alexis' strength, work ethic, class, character and indomitable spirit that we thoroughly prepared and won every single time we went in front of the judge. I cannot say enough good things about this very friendly, yet fierce lady warrior! The biggest takeaway is that Alexis has a big heart. From day one, she fought hard, long hours to champion my kids. It's true, every word written on her website! For that, we are eternally grateful. She made sure to be respectful and accessible at all times, even when my ex came in to her office trying to intimidate her and refusing to cough up his financials. She was a godsend and gave us all much needed peace of mind through the whole long-winded & stressful process. She is our Atticus Finch (of 'To Kill a Mockingbird'). Never lost her patience, raised her voice, over-billed, or acted unprofessionally - despite my being a nervous wreck at times. Bless her heart...
