Susan Hutter Urrutia

I met Susan Urrutia, as Mitchell Ehrlich's assistant attorney at Lonich and Patton, LLC. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with her, but only for a short time. This was during the last few months of my divorce case with Mitch, as my principal and lead attorney. During this period, Susan... was helpful with following up with emails and reminding me of what I still needed to do to bring my case into completion. Once it was almost complete, I met with her and she explained to me the summary of our previous settled agreements and the very last ones that would be a part of the Final Judgement. Susan was quite helpful in explaining to me the ones that were still unclear to me and therefore eased my concerns. I was appreciative of that. But the thing that I was most appreciative and thankful for about Susan was when she helped me with the very last financial issue that my ex-spouse still owed me. It was stated on our term agreement that he was obligated to pay for my medical insurance until the Final Judgement has been reached. Though there was a little bit of confusion on my part as to the ending date, my ex not only tried to get me to pay the very last premium of $728.52, but he also tried to make me pay him back for the previous premium of the same amount; stating that the date was well within the end of the Final Judgment. He claimed he overpaid me. Not sure exactly when was the date of the Final Judgment, I turned to Susan and explained to her what my ex was up to. Susan immediately checked the documents, emailed him and his lawyer, and demanded to pay me for that last premium. Also, she explained that I didn't owe him anything at all. So with a couple of days of emailing back and forth and Susan stating STRONGLY in her email that he was required by our term agreement to pay me the last premium for my medical insurance; I received a text from my ex that he would mail me a check for $728.52, the last premium. Case closed. I knew that I still had to pay Susan for her services even for a couple of days for a few hours and would cost me money. But it was all about principle. I'd rather spend money and actually spent half of that $728.52 to pay Susan, than give in to something that was not right and pay for something I wasn't responsible for. I have always believed in fighting for what's right and just. To this end, I have to say that Susan definitely helped me in that last fight. It was a small amount, but again, the cost of fighting for my principle and fighting for what was right was more important. I felt good about that and definitely happy with the outcome. It was worth spending half of that $728.52. Thank you for that, Susan. Thank you so much. It was a pleasure to have met you and worked with you even for a short while.
