Melinda is a kind and professional attorney who goes beyond and above for me and her clients. I was referred by other friend when I found my ex-husband cheated on my in 2020. I scheduled a consultation with her. Through the consultation, she explained thoroughly what to expect and how she could help ...me protect my rights. My divorce is messy and still ongoing, but Melinda never leaves me behind. She has committed herself to my trials and hearings. She prepared me very well on the stand and she always works overtime. She has to postpone her doctor's appointments and other personal arrangements so many times because her clients/I have urgent needs. She cares about me like her family member. Besides law knowledge she provided along the way, she also taught me how to become a better person in my own personal life. Her price is also very reasonable and won't cost you an arm or a leg. Who doesn't dream of a happily ever after in married life? If you’re as unlucky as I was and find yourself facing separation or divorce, Melinda is your lifesaver!

Melinda is the BEST EVER family law lawyer I have ever worked with. She is an EXTREMELY caring person when my ex-husband did his best to make my life very difficult. She is also VERY PATIENT while discussing my case and explaining to me all the possible outcomes I might get from the family law perspe...ctive. She is the only person I've met who is willing to discuss the case after work-hours ( like after 9 pm!) and helped me prepare for the trial until 3 A.M.!!! She is also very detail-oriented in all perspectives. During the trial, she made the other party's jaw drop several times because she is so well prepared and she knows what she is doing. Of course, we won the case!!!! Melinda is not only an outstanding lawyer, also an excellent friend who truly wants to help you to go through all the emotions that might happen during the divorce. No one really wants to go through a messy divorce, but if you have to go through this, Melinda will be your ONLY choice!!! SHE IS THE BEST AND NO WORDS CAN EXPLAIN HOW GREAT SHE IS!! I see the nasty comments posted here to defame Melinda, I feel I need to say something for the truth. I simply cannot believe Melinda is like what was described in the negative comments. The person said that Melinda called her after 10pm, she should be appreciative that Melinda was still working, and working on his or her case when most people are already resting from work. I guess some people are just super negative and suspicious by their own nature, and hateful towards human as a whole.

My case is a little bit complicated DV divorce case because I am the victim but I was arrest. Consulting more than five attorney before Melinda Zhang, different people give me different solution but no one can satisfy me. I have worded with another two famous family law attorney about half of a y...ear before Melinda Zhang. They don’t have good strategies and solution. When I called or email them, they were little response. It looks like just towing time for more charge (just like most of the attorney do). So finally, I decided to change to a Chinese attorney for better communication. When I saw the 2013 one star review, I was hesitant, because I worked with another 2 attorney too just like her. But I fount she only complain about the normal charge and attitude never mention about the personal ability and other reviews are all good ones. Then I decided to have a try. The first time when I Went to the office of Melinda Zhang, it is very organized and she is very nice and respectful, even it was the first time ,she gave me some very useful suggestion. My DV case took about 1 year, all the process made me frustrated, at the same time I had a deep depression. I have to thank Melinda Zhang, she always listened my concern and worry about then gave me a solution that can real solve the problem. She even told me how to solve the depression problem and care about my motion and health. We prepared the whole week for my trial, sometimes it was already 9:00pm, she was still working with me just for prepare every detail questions. I think if you want to choose a right attorney, you need to choose a right person, have good personality. I have to say, she is the one. And the more important is that I think she is also one of the best trail attorney in the bay area.

I have worked with two other lawyers in the past, and this is the worst experience yet... or maybe I have just been very lucky in the past. Melinda is very rude, disorganized, and I was faced with lots of unexpected charges not previously mentioned or discussed, although total chargers for all servi...ces were discussed in the beginning. First it was "oh by the way I forgot to tell you, you have to pay fedex costs to send documents" (all my previous lawyers covered that cost), then she took a month (!!!) to get back to my inquiry about documents that needed to be submitted, and when she finally replied she threatened to charge me for overnight shipping, because she did not have time and supposedly I didn't get back to her soon enough. The worst of it all was when my mother has called inquiring about our case (they have met before on my behalf), Melinda tactlessly yelled at her, stating she was not her client and that she does not have time to talk to her. This was a real blow to me, because my mom is 10 years her senior, and nobody likes their family members mistreated like that. Finally when everything was said and done, it was "oh by the way you owe us $500 more." If there are extra charges, or even the possibility of them, they need to be discussed when all chargers are discussed, at the very beginning. I understand there could be unforeseeable costs, but these costs were completely predictable. She did get the job done, but I wonder if any lawyer would have been able to do that, as it was a pretty straightforward case, just a matter of proper format and the right paperwork. Overall a very unpleasant experience, to say the least.
