Matthew began working in family law in 2002 when he starting working for Rachel Castrejon, a family law attorney. He was soon working for Ali Quam, who is currently the family law facilitator for Marin County. He expanded his experience into criminal law when he interned and volunteered at both Marin County and Yolo County District Attorney's Office. His experience in criminal law gives him a deeper understanding into substance abuse, alcohol abuse and domestic violence. Matthew has taken custody issues to trial and obtained favorable verdicts for his clients on multiple occasions, even with countervailing recommendations from Family Court Services. He attended the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers trial practicum in 2012. He has handled multiple domestic violence restraining order hearings. Matthew has also assisted clients in dealing with the Department of Child Support Services proceedings.

Kristine Stewart, Family Attorney on Jun 15, 2020
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I am always happy to have Matthew Briggs as my opposing counsel. I know his position will be well grounded in the law and in the facts of the case, and that my client won't be forced into wasting time and money while we work to resolve the issues of the case. He is also very competent in court when issues cannot be resolved by agreement. I highly recommend Matt Briggs.
