 “Fighting for the Underdog”

The theme of my life has been a determination to fight for the underdog. My work is a natural extension of that theme and fulfills me every day. I value hard work above most other things in my life. I often find myself preoccupied with how to fix a client’s problem or how to fix ERISA on a larger scale. Helping clients with disabilities became a personal mission of mine after seeing my father, a disabled veteran, struggle to work and support his family while dealing with the consequences of debilitating medical conditions. I like to think I got from him my strong work ethic, compassion, and desire to serve. I also value taking advantage of every opportunity for personal growth and am always looking for a way to become a better person. Running a business and raising children in a busy city is all consuming, but I am as happy as I’ve ever been, and wouldn’t have it any other way. For fun and relaxation, I enjoy the ritual of Peloton or a hike in the mornings so that I can start work with a clear head and ready to face the challenges that may lie ahead. I also try to practice mindfulness throughout the day, which helps me stay calm in stressful situations. At the end of the day, I enjoy listening to music on Spotify, a book on Audible, or a podcast. In addition to fighting for my clients, I volunteer with the Federal Bar Association, the Legal Aid at Work Workers’ Rights Clinic, and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel. I hope to show my kids by example that giving to others is the best way to lead a life of fulfillment.

Amazing, supportive attorney and advocate
I can't say enough about how much Michelle and her team helped me. My experience with my disability insurance was difficult and scary, and Michelle is a fierce champion for people with disabilities. Insurance systems are so challenging to navigate and it means a lot to be able to trust someone's guidance, politics of justice, and advocacy. Michelle is compassionate and also got down to business with the insurance company. Her team taking my case and getting a settlement gave me peace again. I feel tremendously lucky that I had her as my advocate and grateful for how everything turned out. Highest recommendation!

The most knowledgeable ERISA LTD attorney
Michelle Roberts knows more about ERISA LTD matters than anyone else. Before my disabling injury, I was a litigator at a large law firm; I know the difference between the real experts and the rest of the attorneys. Disabled plaintiffs need an expert like Michelle because the insurance companies are playing hardball and don't care about doing what is right. It comes down to Michelle knowing the law, especially the most recent changes in the law. Also, she truly cares about people. If you get the chance for Michelle to represent you, you are fortunate.

Brilliant, Focused & Won a Very Difficult Case
I'm an attorney and needed representation in a difficult disability case. Several attorneys recommended Michelle and it was soon apparent why - she's amazing! From Day 1 she was on top of strategy, getting necessary documentation from my employer, therapist, psychiatrist, and insurance company and she always keep me advised on what was happening in my case. Her legal advice was concise and on point and she fought on my behalf against a very large insurance company and won a difficult case. What also really impressed me about Michelle was her ability to identify other issues in my case and quickly deal with them. I'd recommend Michelle 100% of the time!

Very positive consulting experience
We consulted Michelle at the start of a possible long term disability process. Our goal was to understand possible outcomes and do's/don'ts that we should be mindful of. Why we recommend Michelle: She quickly grasped our situation and had represented others with similar issues. She explained both law and process clearly and fully. She focused on exactly what we needed to know. Finally, my main goal of our meeting was for us to comprehend our options/implications clearly, both the good and the bad. Michelle was excellent in painting the full picture. After 45 minutes, we feel much more prepared and confident. And we know some simple things to do/don't do that will help us greatly going forward. One comment: We did some preliminary research on our own several days beforehand, including reading our company's policies thoroughly, speaking to HR, thinking thru various possible medical outcomes, etc. This made our discussion with Michelle much more productive.

Highly Recommend!
I highly recommend Roberts Disability. Michelle recommended tests that provided objective evidence of my disability. Both Michelle and Susan are incredibly empathetic, hard working, and responsive. Michelle always made herself available to discuss my case and delivered a great outcome during mediation. Thank you Michelle and Susan!

Needed help with my short term disability claim denial
I was referred by another attorney to Michelle. I needed a consultation regarding my short term disability insurance company denial of my STD claim. Her firm was quick to contact me and help me assess my options. The lawyers suggested that I put my appeal on hold so I could collect my medical records and other pertient information for my appeal. When my appeal date neared, I reached back out to Michelle and we had a brief phone consultation. She walked me through my options and help me decide on my course of action. She and Susan were both extremely knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. I would totally recommend to anyone needing an experienced attorney to handle their disability claims.

My sincere thanks
Michelle - Thank you for settling my case. I am grateful for your excellent representation. You gave me not only the monetary settlement I wanted, but even more importantly you gave me the peace of an unjust decision put right. You are a kind and trustworthy person who has helped someone in need and shown love for a neighbor. My sincere thanks.

EXPERTISTE AND EMPATHY- A WINNING ATTORNEY
Michelle Roberts is the consummate professional. She directed my case with such skill, perseverance and empathy. This is an exceptionally talented attorney. I did not have a large case or an easy one to win but she treated her objective in winning(which she did!) as if it were. She went up against an industry giant and negotiated the best possible outcome for me. She had a sense of urgency on my behalf throughout the process and communicated her progress every step of the way. I couldn't be happier or more impressed with Michelle and the entire team. Thank you!

Superb, compassionate lawyer
Michelle helped me negotiate a settlement with my disability company. She helped me get a much larger settlement amount than I would have received on my own. She was incredibly knowledgable, experienced, professional, compassionate, and empathetic. She works really hard and responds incredibly quickly. Her assistant Susan is equally as great and they make a good team. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

She did it for me, and I am confident that she will do it for you too.

Straight forward and honest
Michelle took on my husband's LTD case after we'd dealt with several appeals and having been put on and off claim over 4 years. She was detailed in looking at the records, gathering more evidence than needed and advising us in a manner that gave us no doubt that we were going in the right direction as far as a settlement agreement. Michelle made sure that we both understood the process every step of the way and worked to ensure that our case was handled fairly throughout the mediation. She wanted to be sure that we walked away with the maximum possible given the circumstances, and we did! Thank you Michelle!

Amazing LTD support
I cannot express how much I appreciate Michelle Roberts, as well as her assistant Susan Foley and the entire team at Robert’s Disability Law. I became disabled due to a complex brew of chronic illnesses that LTD loves to deny exist. I had a particularly difficult disability carrier and only through her tireless advocacy was I able to secure my disability payments, and eventually a one-time buy out from my problematic insurance company that means I no longer have to negotiate with them every month to secure my right to disability. Michelle is not only incredibly skilled, wise, kind, and fierce, she understands disability and will do what it takes to get you what you deseve!

Compassionate Super Lawyer
There’s no question that Michelle is one of the most brilliant lawyers one can have the privilege of working with. She’s a partner and consecutive Super Lawyer, so she’s clearly an amazingly capable attorney. But in my experience, what makes Michelle unique on top of her impressive record is her empathy and passion for helping her clients. Michelle has been there for me in action (not just words) every step of the way and has been an unshakable stand of advocacy for my rights and benefits, independent of wether there was a guaranteed return, which is a rare attribute for a high-achieving professional. I completely trust Michelle, and am grateful to her for what she has done for me. If you’re going to work with her, consider yourself lucky, bc that’s the best decision you’ll make for your case.

I highly recommend Michelle Roberts!
I highly recommend lawyer Michelle, partner at Kantor and Kantor, for any and all LTD insurance claims. Michelle is nothing short of amazing. She is extremely smart, intuitive, empathic and responsive. Most importantly, Michelle is effective in getting the right resolution/action on your case, in the least amount of time. Her experience in all the “ins and outs” of the law is comforting and effective in getting the job done! She is confident and decisive when necessary, while maintaining excellent, caring, thoughtful communication at all times. Working with her was a pleasure. We received a favorable decision in record time! I can't say enough about how grateful I am for Michelle at Kantor & Kantor! Thank you so much for all you’ve done for me!!

Thank you Michelle
Michelle is one of the most intelligent, professional to the point person I’ve ever dealt with. She has great listening skills and a gentle way of getting to the root of the issue. As a sales professional for 45 years I could have learned a lot from her.

Compassionate and Powerful
I am incredibly grateful for Michelle's expertise, wisdom and innovative approach in helping me navigate a quite challenging, and emotionally charged legal situation. Not only was she on point, intelligent and progressive, she was also compassionate and empathetic to the specific challenges in my case. I truly believe she had my best interest in mind, both immediate and long term, and advised me accordingly. Michelle spent a lot of time understanding the complex issues, researching the latest information and opinions around the matter, and handled the resolution with the utmost confidence and professionalism. I highly, highly recommend her and would have her be on my team any day. The best!
