Honest, Compassionate, and a Clear Communicator

We came to Marcia to get help in sealing an arrest record. Marcia is honest, timely, a clear communicator, and will spend the time to explain things, even to someone who is not well-versed in legal speak at all. Her empathy for difficult and complicated situations also contributes to her professiona...lism, which was very impressive and appreciated.

Great attorney to work with

I hired Marcia to seal an arrest record for me. She got me the results I wanted at the earliest date possible. Marcia is knowledgeable, caring, and honest. It was very important for me to deal with someone I can trust and feel comfortable with. I would highly recommend her.

Our savior

My husband and I are new to the world of looking for a lawyer to represent us in our criminal case. We were so worried that we couldn't afford a lawyer plus not to mention that we were extremely skeptical of being ripped off. After calling several different lawyers offices on Yelp, I decided to meet ...with them. Most lawyers we met with were pushy, aggressive and promised too much to the point it wasn't credible. Plus, I can't even begin to mention it was an arm and leg to hire them! After meeting with Marcia, we had a sense of comfort and confidence that she knew what she was doing. She was able to work with our budget and was very fair. We did some research and found out she has been a lawyer for over 30 years and it really does show in the work she accomplished for us. The way that she spoke to us was respectful and she understood our complicated situation. Marcia is very familiar with the criminal court system and clearly has a lot of connections in SF. Marcia explained what our options were clearly so we understood as well. She was incredibly knowledgeable in using different tactics in fighting our case. She knew the people in the court very well from the judges, district attorneys and the lawyer she is up against. Being that my husband and I are new to the criminal world, at all times, Marcia answered all of our ridiculous questions and assured us that we always had options. The charges began as felony charges then Marcia was able to get the court to charge it as only misdemeanor. Soon after she was able convince the DA to transfer our case to neighborhood court! Neighborhood court basically is a program where you complete one or more requirements to have all charges dropped against you. It's the best option if you don't want a permanent record. At the time our case was in neighborhood court, the other party decided to go to neighborhood court and make new false claims to get us kicked out. Marcia refused to give up and fought to get us back in. In the end not only were we able to go to neighborhood court but she was able to seal our records in our last court appearance! So not only are our backgrounds clear but we didn't have to go through the normal year long process of sealing our records! We can't be more happy to know that we can finally say that we should of never been arrested, that we are innocent and we can finally continue with our normal lives. Initially we worried because I saw that these charges were pending and we could of lost our jobs. My husband and I are so thankful to have met Marcia. To top it off, she was also able to guide us through helping us with our restraining order and eviction cases. If she can help you in anyway possible she will. That's the type of person she is. She spent time calling her lawyer friends and connections to guide us as best as she can. She even convinced an eviction lawyer to take on our case pro bono and referred us to a bankruptcy lawyer as well. If she can help in any way she will. There isn't enough words to explain how much she changed our lives for the better. Thank you Marcia from the bottom of our hearts! Keep up the amazing work you do!

Marcia Silver is a lifesaver!

I was arrested twice in the same week this spring and the DA eventually charged me with 2 misdemeanors and 2 infractions. I didn’t contact a lawyer until nearly 2 months later, after the charges had been filed by the DA’s office. Ms. Silver mentioned that she wished I had contacted her earlier becaus...e she can often get the charges dropped before they are filed. I was kicking myself for not seeking her help earlier. However, she took my case regardless and tried to convince the DA to not file but it was too late. She ended up representing me on the charges and in the end got the DA to combine both cases and send them to a restorative justice program and from there got all the charges dismissed. Not only did I not end up with any convictions or jail but because of the way she got the cases dismissed in two years all the records will be sealed and no one will ever know any of it happened. I cannot thank Ms. Silver enough for what she has done for me. Without her I would have had to face the courts and could have incurred large fines, possible jail, probation and more. Additionally, I would have had misdemeanors on my record, which potential employers would be able to see forever. Ms. Silver did a great job for me and I recommend her to anyone looking for a criminal lawyer.

"I recommend Marcia Silver without reservation. She does excellent work, and works very, very hard to defend her clients. I have seen her handle many cases, and she gets great results. One reason for that is that she never, ever gives up. She really listens to her clients and finds out what they need. Then she goes after the prosecution and finds a way to win, often by getting them to drop charges! She's great!"
