About me

Abigail Rivamonte is a Deputy Public Defender in San Francisco. She has served as lead attorney in over 40 trials since she was first admitted to the California State Bar in 2009.  Her not guilty verdicts have garnered buzz by several media outlets, including coverage by ABC (KGO-7), Fox (KTVU-2), SF Weekly and other publications.  She attributes much of her success to her team of hard working interns and supportive colleagues at the Public Defender's Office.

She graduated cum laude from the University of California, San Diego and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she was the president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and a founding board member of the Pilipino American Law Society.

Ms. Rivamonte is currently President of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC).  As President of FBANC, she is committed to serving her community and responsible for organizing free legal clinics, mentorship programs, outreach events and professional development activities.

As a Deputy Public Defender she serves low-income and predominantly minority clients who are struggling in the criminal justice system.  As their advocate she strives to give them the power and voice that they deserve in the courtroom.  Her daily inspiration comes from her colleagues at the Public Defender's Office who fight the good fight for the innocent and the underserved.
