I really thought that we were a lost cause, and had started to plan for the worst after experiencing substantial slab leak within our home. We had exhausted our discussions in working with our insurance directly and had come to a stalemate on what they would/ would not cover; resulting in no payment ...for a wet saturated slab not suitable for flooring/ rebuilding. In speaking with work colleagues, many of them recommended a public adjuster’s help to support us moving forward. After reaching out to two of them, they advised that insurance companies typically only pay out on 5% of slab claims; so our chances of success would be very low. In addition, they advised that they would charge approximately 20% of any payout received. While intimidated by potentially moving into litigation, our family had no other option but to retain legal counsel as the choice was clear; either attempt to obtain payout for what we were entitled too based off our policy, or be left with a non-livable house with four children, during COVID (really rough year for our family).
