Expensive but well worth it

I was arrested for grand theft shoplifting ($1950. item) from a Beverly Hills department store. I had several prior misdemeanor shopliftings and had been to prison on a white collar fraud case, so my record, as Fred summarized it - "sucked." I couldn't see how I could have gotten out of this with...out doing some time, and really I expected more than a little bit of custody, but Fred practically assured me that I would get a noncustodial sentence, and some Caltrans picking up trash type work. This put my mind at rest, although honestly, I was at best guardedly optimistic. Fred brought in (with my consent) associate counsel Ryan Rodriguez, who was I understand it the former D.A. for the exact department where I was arraigned in the Los Angeles court. Fred's offices knew enough to keep me in that specific department, where Ryan knew both the D.A. and the judge, and on my very first court date after arraignment Ryan was able to arrange a deal for me where I was sentenced to zero jail time, and 480 hours community service, which is easier to perform than Caltrans. I was VERY agreeably relieved and happy with the outcome. Fred is expensive but going to jail is expensive too - loss of any income and separation from friends, family and society. I would highly recommend Fred for his intuitive understanding of the system, innovative ways of approaching problems and aggressive style of trying to get the best result for his clients. I have been in the criminal justice system before as a defendant and Fred is definitely one of the types of attorneys you want - who takes the time to talk to you as the case progresses and does not merely take a retainer and disappear. Would recommend.

Excellent Attorney

Fred is an excellent attorney, with legal negotiation brilliance, and, courtroom charisma. Bottom line is he knows the law, and his strategy, and, negotiating skills are spot on. While needless to say, the legal process was very stressful, Fred's confidence, legal brilliance, and ability to get thi...ngs done relieved the stress early on. Had two wrongfully accused felonies filed against me. One was dropped, the other reduced to a misdemeanor, with no jail time or probation. If you need legal representation, I highly recommend Fred Thiagarajah.

Consult

He is great! I was paranoid about a possible legal situation I got myself into and wanted to consult. He told me it was to soon to know the extent of what I would be liable for but based on my description he recommended I don't need an attorney yet but should I hear otherwise or if the detectives wan...ted to talk again he would be of service. Would use him again in a heartbeat should anything come up in the future, he responded quick and was warm and direct and professional all in one email.

Compassionate, Helpful, Trustworthy, Responsive, Knowledgeable

I called Mr. Thaigarajah's office to discuss my brother's case and get a second opinion as I had lost trust with my brother's current attorney. I felt my brother's attorney was not doing enough for him. Mr. Thaigarajah was not only helpful, but brought me the peace of mind I needed to accept my broth...er's outcome. My first impression was that Mr. Thaigarajah was a fighter and would defend to his best abilities. I wanted to hire Mr. Thaigarajah to represent my brother wholeheartedly, but he was honest and told me it would not change the outcome as my brother's case was too far along. My only regret is that I did not find him in the beginning of my brother's case as I am confident that my brother's outcome would have been much better with his representation. He did not charge me any fees for the conversations we had even though he knew our options were limited, but he listened (several times) and called when he said he would (every time). I HIGHLY recommend anyone in trouble to hire Mr. Thaigarajah as he was extremely knowledgeable in the law and thorough when reviewing the facts to build a strong defense case. Thank you Mr. Thaigarajah for your compassion and listening to me. It is something I will be forever grateful for...

AMAZING Attorney!!! Master of Law!!

Fred Thiagarajah was referred to me by a friend. It was the best thing that could have happened in my life. Fred was attentive to my case from the very first conversation we had together. He was quick to take to my defense and NEVER left me wondering what was going on. He further appeared in additio...nal unrelated hearings for me just to show that he cared about my situation. He was half the price of every other attorney I spoke to and gave twice the service. I was facing two felony counts and Fred got the entire case dismissed!! Nothing! Nada! Not a plea bargain and not my pleading guilty to charges I didn't commit just to get this awful time of my life over with. All charges dropped and bail exonerated!! You cannot believe what that meant to me and my family. Do not think that just because you are innocent that the DA won't try to find you guilty anyways. Let's also not forget about the recent headlines where DA Prosecutors are being ordered off of cases for contriving with police to have innocent people found guilty. You need an attorney that isn't afraid to get down to business and make sure your rights are protected because if you think the DA is gonna do it - think again! If Fred hadn't believed in me then I don't know what I would have done. He is not just an attorney - he is a savior. You won't believe to what extent the DA's Office went to in order to tarnish my reputation and support a soured ex-wife. Fred had the jury jumping to answer his interview questions, the judge complimented his argument during prelim and even the DA Prosecutor told him he was an excellent attorney. I mean, Fred's ability is unbelievable! Just unbelievable. This man knows how to turn the courtroom into his ready and willing listeners. How many defense attorneys have you seen receive compliments by the Judge AND the Prosecutor? I would bet none. Now let's talk about his staff. His assistants are terrific, especially his office manager Gay. They make sure that you are in constant contact with Fred, (even when he is in trial for someone else) and have even responded to me after hours. It took the support of his entire team to get me where I am today - a free man! With that said, let's not forget that Fred would also speak with or meet me in the late evening, weekends and during holidays. He didn't care what else was going on in the world around us if there was something that I needed. He truly prioritizes his clients. You just cannot go wrong in choosing him. You can't. I fully endorse Fred to represent anyone. He is your friend. He is your best defense. He is your attorney. I am not a religious person, but I thanked God the day I hired him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
