Richard Masson, is the best lawyer that I have ever worked with. My divorce involved an ex who was impeached for untruthfulness and represented by an unreasonable and unethical attorney which ment that there was no way to avoid family court. This made it clear that I was in worst situation possible ...and given that, I had worked with two attorneys prior to finding Richard. Richard was the breath of fresh air I needed while going through the worst situation of my life. He was understanding, diligent supportive with my highly sensitive case. He made a very stressful and trying situation much easier on me. As importantly, he was honest, fair and extremely intelligent and able to represent my interests softly and reasonably while also being able to be heard and commanding respect if necessary in the courtroom. He was extremely helpful and always available to answer any of my questions. My needs were put first and I was treated as a friend rather than a client. When I was overwhelmed by the entire situation, Richard fought hard for me. He went above and beyond and did everything he could to ensure the best outcome possible.

Going through divorce is a very stressful and highly emotional process. It is important to have someone on your side willing to fight for what’s right and be your biggest advocate. I truly felt Mr. Masson was willing to fight for me and stand up against the bully and his over zealous attorney on the ...other side of my case. I also appreciated that he had so much trial experience. My case didn’t go to court, but if it had, I would have wanted Mr. Masson to stand up for me in court. Alternatively, if you decide to mediate, MAKE SURE Richard is there to consult to get your best outcome. He and his staff are very busy so schedule meetings or calls well in advance.

In my opinion, Richard Masson and his office are a great choice if you want emails and calls to go unanswered for days on end, have motions and trial preparation completed at the final hour or get your questions and information back so late that you will not have a chance to completely review, correc...t items or be clear on the pre-trail trail tactics and strategies Richard will use. Trial day isn’t a time to be surprised by your own counsel. Lack of preparation is the norm and that could include being told that Richard would not be at your hearing right before it. His replacement, being an inexperienced lawyer that you didn’t hire, doesn’t know your case and will fail to represent you in the fashion that you expected Richard to do so when you hired and paid him. Be prepared to track your own filing dates, battle to get calls and emails returned, and hear many different excuses along the way. After all the failing to prepare catches up and your case is set on a chart to fall apart before the judge due to the lack of preparation you will hear about how the family courts are garbage (which is true especially for those unprepared) or how the judge didn’t know what they were doing, and how you should be able to win on appeal should you be willing to pay more money for that service as well. Save your money and hire someone who will take your case seriously after they are paid and not just during the introductory meeting when Richard is seeking your retainer and sizing up the amount of money you have for his fight for your rights and the protections you need from the courts
