During the last 36 years, Edward Susolik has come to be known and respected as one of the top litigation and trial attorneys in Southern California. Mr. Susolik is known for his powerful and aggressive interdisciplinary litigation practice, combining expert trial and courtroom advocacy skills with bold and decisive litigation strategies. The foundation of Mr. Susolik’s success is his diverse litigation practice. Unlike most lawyers who specialize in narrow areas of practice, Mr. Susolik specializes in the one thing that matters most to clients: winning.
To that end, Mr. Susolik has extensive expertise in multiple areas of complex litigation, including complex business litigation, real estate litigation, insurance bad faith and coverage, and catastrophic personal injury. Mr. Susolik’s practice is divided evenly between plaintiff and defense perspectives: he was trained as a defense lawyer at an international law firm but is equally adept at prosecuting eight-figure plaintiff cases.
Mr. Susolik’s many awards and accolades speak to his reputation in the legal community. For example, Mr. Susolik has been recognized by his peers as one of the “Top 100 Attorneys in Southern California” annually from 2010 to 2026 — one of only a handful of Orange County attorneys given that distinguished honor by Super Lawyer Magazine.
Mr. Susolik is the President and CEO of Callahan & Blaine, the largest catastrophic personal injury law firm based in Orange County. In the last 12 months alone, Mr. Susolik has obtained the following top settlements, in addition to many other seven-figure settlements during that time period as well:
- $11.25 Million - wrongful death of 72 year old woman in Los Angeles;
- $11.0 Million - wrongful death of 27 year old woman in Los Angeles;
- $8.5 Million - wrongful death of a 65 year old woman in an airplane crash in Puget Sound, Washington;
- $6.0 Million - 30 year old pilot in airplane crash in Nevada;
- $5.0 Million -premises liability/concussion of a 25 year old single woman in San Jose;
- $5.0 Million - car accident, 30 year old woman hit by driver in Palmdale; and
- $4.9 Million - pedestrian/concussion of an 18 year old college student in Orange County.
These settlements are in addition to the 42 year history and legacy of record-breaking verdicts and settlements at Callahan & Blaine, including the following:
- $934 Million verdict, the largest jury verdict in Orange County history (after a three month trial);
- $58 Million judgment, the largest insurance bad faith judgment in Orange County history;
- $50 Million settlement, certified by West Law Digest as one of the largest personal injury settlements in United States history; and
- $38 Million employment law settlement, after a two month trial in OCSC
Under Mr. Susolik's leadership, Callahan & Blaine is a powerhouse litigation and trial firm with 42 years of experience and 32 highly experienced trial attorneys and litigators. Defense counsel and insurance companies know and respect Callahan & Blaine because its lawyers comprehensively prepare cases for trial. For example, in the summer of 2025, Callahan & Blaine had three major cases in trial at the same time in different courts in California.
On the personal side, Mr. Susolik was born in Trnava, Czechoslovakia and has also lived in Switzerland and Spain. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1986 with degrees in Philosophy, English, and History. He received his law degree from the USC Gould School of Law in 1990, where he graduated second in his class and was an Articles Editor on the law review. Mr. Susolik was also a professional golfer for a number of years and continues to play competitive amateur golf throughout the United States. Mr. Susolik has six children and has lived in Newport Beach since 1990.
