When your parent is a carpenter, you "measure twice and cut once." When your parent is an auto-mechanic, you change your own oil. And when your parent is a trial lawyer, you know your way around a courtroom.
Shaun A. Sullivan's father wasn't just any trial attorney, though. Mark J. Sullivan, aka "The Perry Mason of Palm Springs," began teaching his son trial advocacy almost twenty years ago. Thanks to his father's tutelage, Shaun won his first life-sentence trial at age 28.
In 2017 Shaun filed suit against the City of Coachella challenging their "prosecuting for profit" practice. Since then the case has garnered national media attention.
Shaun has been quoted in a number of publications, including The San Francisco Chronicle, The Daily Journal, USA Today, The Desert Sun, and NPR News.
Shaun was on San Diego Law Review while at USD School of Law. His B.A. in English comes from Colgate University, where he was a varsity oarsman for the crew team. He currently lives in La Jolla with his wife and dogs.
Shaun practices statewide throughout California Superior Courts and federally in U.S. District Courts. His firm, The Sullivan Defense, is located in Bankers Hill, San Diego, right next to Balboa Park.
