Biography
After receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1983, Scott began his career at a law firm in San Diego. In 1988, he co-founded Smylie & Van Dusen, where he focuses on business, commercial, and real estate law. Scott has litigated and tried numerous civil cases, including complex fraudulent conveyance matters, secured transactions, partnership and corporate disputes, business matters, and Scott has a wide range of litigation and transactional real estate experience. Scott has meditation and arbitration experience and has extensive knowledge of consumer collection and bankruptcy laws.
Scott has been admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court (SDCA and CDCA), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a member of the California Bar Association, Real Property Law Section, and San Diego County Bar Association.
Outside of his law career, Scott is married with 3 children. He coached Pop Warner Football and loves to cook exploring new food and wines in his free time.
